This has to be a favorite of mine ... “I feel confident he will recognize that we have a community problem,” he said. ... I don't think that Gov Barber should have to recognize anything! It should be the community of Natchez! The board should have been replaced long long ago with more people with business sense that looked out for more than their backsides. Golfing? That sounds about right. Jobs for people and a clean, good servicing hospital should have been their priorities not how much work do we NOT have to do! Running a GOOD QUALITY hospital is a LOT of work! If you don't have good people that care about it (from management at the tippy tippy top to the grunt workers at the bottom) then the hospital was doomed from the time Mr. Mitchell left. Because we all know that is when it all fell apart! He cared about ALL the patients, and ALL of the employees at NRMC!

On NRMC bankruptcy bill waiting on Barbour's blessing

There are too many opinions, not enough spines, and definitely no show thus far of any signs of intelligence. And if NRMC has a chance of making it - those in the position of making decisions need to put aside their "big heads" and do what is best for the community. If not, Natchez will become another dried up miner's town with nothing there but tumble weed rolling through it. Families existence, forget well being for a while, have been put in their hands - God help them to do the right thing for a change! Bottom line speaks volumes and so far, it is an ugly sound!

On One hospital enough for Natchez

Seems like everyone wants to admit there is a problem, but no one wants to take responsibility! I think that if the Supervisors, Board of Trustees and Quorom would have pulled their heads out of their backsides along time ago ... NRMC would not be in the boat that it is today. Mr. Mitchell held the hospital's reputation in the highest regard and put more blood sweat and tears into it than anyone else I have seen - literally. After 15 years, NRMC has basically flushed millions and millions and millions of revenue down the toilet and then wants to say no one is paying - wha wha wha! If it were runned the way that Mr. Mitchell was running it - then guess what none of you would be able to say a word except for the debate over politics - Now that was interesting thinking about what our choices are going to be after George W.

On Curing hospital woes won’t come easy

I cannot believe how NRMC has been run without the community knowing. No tax increase can bring the hospital back to the point where it was when Mr. Mitchell was in charge. In 1992, when Mr. Mitchell was "forced" to resign/retire, there was several several million dollars in the bank and the hospital was highly ranked in the state by Medicare. How do you screw things up to this point except by poor management and horendous decision making by the board and management company! To remotely have a hope of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel - you might want to see what Mr. Mitchell has to say?
