Everytime I question an Obama supporter on the issues, I can't get a straight answer on anything. I hear things like, "he's young" "he's polarizing" "he's energetic" and so on, but never anything regarding his stance on issues. Now maybe this says something for the people whom I am around but they are a very diverse bunch. The ones that do know where Obama stands on the issues are Clinton and McCain supporters. They can pick him to pieces but an Obama supporter can't do the reverse. This is becoming the norm in the people I talk with. Just observations, draw your own conclusions. If you support Obama, I suggest you learn where he stands on the issues and not a lot of fluff statements but hard facts. I've seen several change their minds after doing this.

The mayor should be someone that will clean up the Police Department. Then I can drive through town again and save gas. I vote Glen.

"Stressed it's not a tax"? But it's called a tax. Funny... and someone above wanted it spread between the restaurants? Do people not think anymore? If we had so many tourists that the rest. tax would have made a difference, then the money wouldn't be needed to spend on advertising the area so who would've been taxed? Just us poor locals. Yep. We would have had to pay for the advertising. At least they woke up and just taxed the hotels. I mean, they had to tax someone, right? New session and all, they had to open everything up by instituting a new tax or it just wouldn't have been a normal world. Luckily the locals don't utilize the hotels much so we've dodged a bullet...what's next on the agenda? Can they vote themselves a raise and reroute the money for the tax to pay for it or perhaps there's some other scheme at work here?

Everyone's on a roll today. You all have great points!
On Do you think the Audubon Terrace housing development is a good idea?

thetinman is absolutely correct. If/when they do raise taxes on these industries, why would they dump the funds into tourism? We will have 3 casino's promoting the area. That coupled with our funds should be plenty. If we had more patrol officers and investigators we could potentially reduce the burglary problem and crime itself. What are these people thinking. Seems like they just want to complain about crime and address their own agendas and turn their back while the citizens suffer.

This is a wonderful event and so are the people that put it on. Well worth attending.

This editorial is liberal drivel. There are more people in need of CT scans and heart procedures than mental patients. Health care has always been about dollars. People don't create/research new drugs and procedures for free. They don't go to work out of the kindness in their hearts. Are health care costs out of control, absolutely, but they've never been free. Consider prisons and hospitals. If there were money in (violent?) mental illness, there would be private contractors knocking down our doors to build shiny new facilities to house our unfortunates. The statement "Too often, they’re left with no other option than to call law enforcement for help". There are always instances where someone slips through the cracks in the system but most of these issues are addressed. I'd like to review the logs and see just how many of those cases we've had and compare the figures on a per capita basis to other cities. Let's see if those numbers justify facilities beyond what we have and what's available. You guys must have had a slow editorial night.

Could have been "slick" paperwork. Maybe the money got paid but the item wasn't received and the proceeds divided up?
On Do you think Adams County’s missing front-end loader was stolen or nonexistent?
