To answer part of your question, EnKiKur, the reason Congress is unable to print money successfully is because our currency is no longer based on the gold standard. And before you go off on a rant about how we should swich back to the gold standard, I will say now that it would never work. We simply couldn't find that much gold everytime we needed to print money. Plus, it would eventually cause many to keep their money our of the banks and in its gold form which would slow credit, but I digress. Secondly, if you have ever bothered to actually read a dollar bill, you will notice the words, "Federal Reserve Note," and nothing of Congress. Can you imagine having to reprint every bill in existance to insure its viability? Or even if we could keep the old bills which ones would people be more likely to keep accepting, the newly printed or old bills? You could and would end up with a major currency crisis.

Why do public education officials and this editorial board for that matter always think it is so wrong for parents to want their children to have the best education available in their area? What will most likely transpire is that many parents will either move to a new location where their children can attend better schools and others will opt for private and home schooling.

If we were to "kill the bank" as did President Jackson, it would send us back into the dark ages. I am no fan of this so called, "Bail-Out Bill," but removing the Federal Reserve would insure the collapse of our nations economy and possibly the end of it.

It's ironic that there are so many people making the case that not all of the borrowers should be penalized because many of them did not do anything wrong, but when it comes to the CEO's and stock brokers, their attitude is let them all fry.

Excuse me, I meant to say that the information was disclosed.

The information was undesclosed; the borrower just didn't care think about it's implications.

Bobaloo, it's that attitude that gets us into these terrible situations.

I must agree with happybunny. I think it was very unwise and, I dare say, foolish to put such a title on any article or poll of a local newspaper. Have you already forgotten why there was a run in the 20's, or did you even bother to think about it?
