okay you want to blame the rising river on bush?? get over people. you all need to quite playing a blame game. face teh facts. river is high, chance for flood. no one is to blame. as for the people on old river and other areas like that. they do waht they have to do. not everyone has somewhere to go. they have faced high water before and if they choose to do this again they can. if the river floods then that is what is going to happen. if it doesn't than thank God it didn't. No one has control of it. I don't think the levee will break just because I remember in 97 but that doesn't mean I am not worried.

opening the spillway will help us...the water from here goes through there. the article today said they aren't opening it for now. we get anymore rain and i am sure that will change.

csguidry, i am not saying i am not worried. but there are people that are saying omg we are doomed. some people are taking it too far and trying to stress people out more than they already are. i live in vidalia so yeah i am worried but like i said earlier there is not much you can do if the levees break because that is not something anyone can warn you about. it just happens. i have friends that live where it is already flooded so i am not trying to take this lightly. it's the people that are trying to basicaly say "you're going to flood no if's and's or but's" that i am refering to. i know all to well that just because the levees survived once doesn't mean they will again but i am not going to hype anyone up about it and make a situation worse than it is.

The river seeps under the ground in natchez and basically pools under there. I think as far as the Eola. It causes open spaces underground. Ask around because I remember the one at the post office and the one right past the bridge going into Natchez.
As for reading, the people in N.O. were told everything was fine with the levees before teh storm. They chose to stay and then the levees broke. Here there is no storm but yes the river has risen and yes we know that a flood is possible. We can not stress about when because NO ONE knows. It is a wait and see kind of deal. Trust me I don't want to be here if it happens but I am not in control of that river.

I'm with Simple. Why is everyone freaking out on here. There is always a threat of a flood anytime the river gets high. BUT the river is not going to get as high as it did in '97 and even then it was okay. If it is going to flood it's going to and there is nothing you can do about it. For those of you in Natchez that are really stressing for some reason, STOP!! You don't live right next to the river like us over here in Vidalia. Y'all need to worry about the sink holes instead of trying to tell us what we need to do. The corps says everything is okay for now so just CHILL!!!

again he didn't get death because of the age he was when he commited the murders. it doesn't matter what he was charged with. even if the death was a choice he couldn't get it because of that reason.
