Despite it having rooms for guests to stay the night, can we compare it to Danny's in Vidalia for a minute? I thought that drinking and driving was such a big deal? Who's going to point out the same facts pointed out with the bar in Vidalia? I'm not a drinker or party-goer, but I'm just taking a third person view of the two situations.

I agree with kpage's idea of leaving it in the trunk. But if you do that, don't wait until you get there to put the stuff in the trunk! They can break in there too. Sometimes they're watching you put it in the trunk. But what kind of dummy would leave their items out in the open anyways? When I drive back to lsu, i see people leaving their gps systems up all the time. I put mine away everytime i get out my car, i turn it off and its up before i've even found a parking spot! In all sense, use common sense and stop leaving things out in the open...and i can understand that not everyone does that. But at least lock your doors! My boyfriend asks me why i'm so protective of my things when i'm fussing at him opening the car and getting out before i've hidden my purse. This is the exact reason why! I never leave my things out or unlocked, guess living in a city like Baton Rouge does it to you!

But it does kill me. I'm like, damn...I'm paying for that car!

I appalled by Krogers comment: "The way the black teenage girls are dropping babies, I fail to see why Mathis or Grey should be worried about any increase in white votes. And that is not a racial statement just an observation of the truth, teenage pregnancy in Natchez, and it's really bad amongst the black community, is really out of control. In my business I know a lot of black families and I would hazard a guess that 50% of the black teenage girls are having babies by the age of 16, and 80% by the age of 19. And guess who is paying for these medical issues? I wonder what the actual stats are on this issue, the numbers I'm using are just from my own personal observation and they may be off, but not far. Also many of these young unwed mothers continue to have additional offspring before they turn 20 and I would think this really deters their opportunities of education and employment, but does improve their tax refund status. So there is no shortage of new black voters, relax Mathis and Grey. The teenage illigetimate pregnancy rate far exceeds any influx of white votes annexation should miraculously create (which it will not) Mathis and Grey, if they are concerned about the black community might focus on this problem instead."
I am from Vidalia, and I am a young black woman. I will be 20 this year and I have not had any children neither have any of my closet friends who are also black and not all of them are from Vidalia, some are from Natchez as well. I am so tired of this stereotype,it is so ridiculous! Out of my class, only 1 black girl has had a child. The majority of girls in the school during my years/in my class either had a child by graduation or just had one/two in the past 2 years and they were white. Teenage pregnancy is a problem, no matter what race they are. As long as teenagers are having sex, then there's possiblities of children. Can we stop downgrading one race and just target the entire problem in general? as long as everyone keeps pulling things apart, the towns will never grow into something beautiful, but will be stuck in the old ways, which are often points of shame in the South's history.

MSviaTN, i dunno. I remember hearing rumors about "another car being on the bridge going the wrong way running from someone." And wasn't the Cedric guy driving one of those diesel dodge trucks? i though diesels couldn't pick up speed as quickly as a gas automobile could? and can anyone remember seeing the vehicles in vidalia, like how bad they looked? and if only those two guys were killed, how come the other drives from the other two vehicles aren't in jail as well? or were they not participating in the "race"? i'm just asking questions here, i'm not pointing fingers at anyone.

exactly. even the new ones were half-done. if we're paying for it at least give us a decent job. and we're not even going to talk about the drainage system in the mooselodge/concordia park area.

actually msubulldog, we're talking about louisiana in which they are police jurors. but with my dad being one, i can remember several times where people from other districts would call him and he'd redirect them to others and many late nights he'd have to go out and help the residents from flooding houses and other problems.

Agreed. That's how thing work around here...its about who you know/married to/related to...if its not for the family, then you're out of a job.
Why in the world would the other two sign up for a job that would only last a year when they have families and bills to pay? That sounds ridiculous, according to my sources...they were never informed of the one year limit.
This consultant, just how much did they pay her? Probably around $10,000. I'm pretty sure someone from the south could've done her job just as well, and probably cheaper too.
And they were not willing to communicate? Well if no one is listening or even visiting the office...then one cannot communicate with the others...at least that's how I thought it went? Mr. Walker should've been more cooperative.
The ND should've printed some of those other statements the officials made...such as telling the people to "Shut up," "Stop causing a commotion," or in the words of Vidalia's mayor, "I do what I want to do." I didn't know that mayors get elected to do what they pleased. I thought it was in the people's best interest? Guess not huh?
And yet again, another place is gonna emerge on the riverfront? Even the fireworks on the 4th are no longer enjoyable...just too much stuff crammed in together. The Riverfront isn't the same peaceful place anymore...I'll take Baton Rouge's Riverfront any day over Vidalia's current one.
