“Even the Church’s just war theory has moral force because it is grounded in the principle that innocent human life must be protected and defended. Now, a person may, in good faith, misapply just war criteria leading him to mistakenly believe that an unjust war is just, but he or she still knows that innocent human life may not be harmed on purpose. A person who supports permissive abortion laws, however, rejects the truth that innocent human life may never be destroyed,” the Bishop of Scranton wrote.
We applaud Bishop Martino for his courageous and timely reminder that legal abortion represents a ‘profound moral failure.’ The time has come to place abortion along side slavery and child labor as sad chapters of our past.

Adams County, Catahoula Parish and just about every other county and parish around here - besides Concordia Parish!?!?! We must just be invincible since there was devastation all around us. Or are we just - being overlooked?

I'm not making fun of anyone for overstocking because I could have done a better job, but I have a question: Why do people buy so much bottled water when they can just fill up containers from their faucet to prepare?

According the the explanation I received in the mail, we do not have to claim the stimulus check as income, like we did when we got a "smaller rebate" a few years ago. Since we had direct deposit for our income tax refund, we already got ours, but my elderly mother-in-law does not pay taxes. So she is not getting her stimulus check in the mail until July 4.
I'm with Marie Allred, I just had to buy a new washer and hot water heater - in the same week (what a coincidence!), so we'll be paying ourselves back. I'm not going to complain that it's not big enough like I've heard some people do. I'm thankful for any size stimulus check!

If it's true that the parents are not paying the tuition, like the article said, then they're not going to pay it at Cathedral either! Maybe if they paid the tuition like they're supposed to, they wouldn't have to consider closing down the school. I think that was a stupid comment about the sexual abuse lawsuits having anything to do with it.
And who cares if a bus goes from the church to the casino? Don't try to tell me that non-Catholic Christians don't gamble because some do. There's nothing wrong with it unless it's an addiction or it's done with money needed to pay bills or feed a family. Some people are just entertained at casinos. And it has absolutely nothing to do with Holy Family School closing!

I was able to vote in the primary of my party only. No one announced what party I'm registered to vote in. I would not have liked it if they would have done that. I'm not ashamed, but it's none of anyone's business. I hardly like it when they say my whole name out loud.
My husband, however, is registered as an independent. He was able to vote for the aldermen, police chief and mayor, but he was not able to vote in the presidential primary.
What bothers me is that since so many other states have already voted in the primary, my choices were already limited. I think the primaries should be held on the same day just like the election. I still voted for who I wanted to although that person is not even in the race any more. It's the first time I've ever felt like my vote didn't count.

Yes I did vote, but voting in the (republican) presidential primary was all but a moot point since the nominee has basically been decided by the states that voted earlier. I've never felt like my vote didn't count until now.

I see nothing wrong with the picture. It illustrates just how bad the wreck was, so maybe even more people will pray for James and the children that were on the bus!! God bless you James, Sue and family!
