I normally don't get involved in political discussions, but I have to step in on this one.
Some of you feel that Bush is bad for the country and needs to go. Fine, he'll be gone in January. But don't assume that Bush = All Republicans. Judge each candidate on his or her own merit, not by assuming they are exactly like someone or will act exactly like someone else just because they happen to belong to the same political party. If we did that, we'd never have gotten another Democratic president after Jimmy Carter.

Here's a website that will allow you to see an animation of the path the hurricane is expected to take.
https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/wxmap_cgi/cgi...
When you go to the site, you may get a security certificate error. Since it's a site run by the Navy, it's probably just a glitch and not a real security issue, so I just continue to the site and have had no problems.

Unless you have a compromised immune system like Lynn did -- no spleen... remember?

babygreen just provided a perfect example of us thinking we know something when we really don't. No, babygreen, that is not true. That's why you shouldn't rely on secondhand information, even when it supposedly comes from someone who seems to be "in the know" such as this nurse.

First off, let me say that Lynn is already resting in peace. She is in heaven and, fortunately, protected from all of the nastiness going on down here.
Next, with regard to the "censorship," as some have called it, by the ND, it's only censorship if it limits our free speech. Free speech does not include libel, slander, or defamation. That's why there are laws against those practices. What was going on last night included so many slanderous and defamatory comments that it's not surprising to me that ND shut the whole thing down. It was the only responsible thing to do. ND could possibly be held responsible for allowing that to continue on their site, so they have to protect themselves.
Now on to the subject of blame. American society has become so used to finding some person or group to blame for every tragedy. And the media just fuels it! Yesterday in the news, there was a story about a 17 year old guy who climbed two six foot tall fences to trespass into an area of a Six Flags park where he was subsequently killed by a ride that hit him. Six Flags had far exceeded the fencing requirements of the regulations, yet there are still those who blame them for not doing enough to keep this young man from climbing over them and getting killed. Why should someone other than him be at fault. I don't know how many times I've heard on the news in recent years someone saying, "Someone has to be held accountable for...." Even when they don't have anyone real to point a finger at, people are bound and determined to find someone.
In 1999, a woman in Baton Rouge was reported missing by her husband. He said that she had gone out jogging one morning and had never come home. The news media was alerted and the husband was interviewed. Many people in BR speculated that he had killed his wife. They said that he wasn't showing enough emotion. Days later, her body was found in a nearby swamp. The police questioned the husband, but never filed any charges and, as far as I know, never considered him a suspect. However, for the next several years, that man lived with the stares and pointing from people who had convicted him in their minds. In 2004, we all found out that the wife had been one of the victims of a serial killer who had been plaguing BR for years. Did anyone apologize to her husband? I doubt it.
Will any of you apologize to Marshall when the facts are exposed and we find out she died from natural causes? I doubt that, too.
Marshall is not just a "nice guy." He's a loving, caring, Christian man with a strong faith that he is eager to share with everyone.
We all know that we cannot count on the media or the grapevine to tell us everything we need to know to decide innocence or guilt. They can't. They don't know everything and often what they think they know is wrong. So why is everyone so quick to make a judgment on this issue without knowing all the facts, especially one that can severly damage a man's life?

sayitloud, the problem is that false rumors and groundless lawsuits can still cause permanent damage.

Wifey, I think what they were referring to in Ecclesiastes was Chapter 3, Verses 1 and 8 that say "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: ... a time to love and a time to hate, A TIME FOR WAR and a time for peace." You made a reference to not voting for a candidate because he was pro-war, and seemed to insinuate that that was against Biblical teachings. This passage appears to contradict that idea.
On Do you know how you will vote in the presidential election?
