Robin, you are correct, if they would of rammed him he could of lost control. What if after they shot the tires, he lost control. We could of easily had the same result shooting tires.

Thanks NAtchez3, thats is exactly what I am trying to say also. I am glad the officers managed to get this idiot, but I think it was the wrong move to shoot the vehicle given the conditions.

"A decision was made against hitting McDonald’s truck with a cruiser as a means to stop because some of the streets were too crowded, Brown said."
If the streets were too crowded why were we shooting? Even if they were just shooting tires, what if the vehicle went out of control after getting his tires shot?

Noneya, I know you aren't trying to argue, and I am not either. I stated when I started this discussion, I only know what I read from the article. I don't know what angle or what distance these shots were made. I do know that a firearm is for taking out people. If they were close enough to use a firearm, then they could have used their vehicle to stop them right? We are all making alot of assumptions, but I think we would all agree that shooting a weapon in a residential neightborhood is dangerous. That was my point.

Krogers - I'll challenge you to any shoot off you want to have, been shooting all my life, and 6 years in the military. I have shot from the ground, from vehicles and from helicopters and I know how hard some shots can be. Shooting from a moving car, on the terrible roads in Natchez in a residential neighborhood would not be worth the risk.

Krogers, I agree with sayitloud. I only know what I have read from this article, but if they were shooting out the window of a moving car THAT IS NOT SAFE. I am not sure what expereince you have with firearms, but a shoot out a moving vehicle is very hard and can miss very easily. If this was done in a residential neighborhood it could be borderline wreckless.

Very true Firered, if they would take the lead on this, the city wouldn't have to get involved

For all those that think the people who live down town are doing all the complaining, you might not realize that city hall is one of the largest recipients of beer bottles on the weekends. And guess what, city hall was there first!
If the bar owners would clean up after the weekend, and the city would keep regular foot patrols this problem would be controlled. The bars have been asked regularly over the past 10 years to help. They have helped some by keeping bottles in the bar, but there are still the people that bring them in from outside.

Excellent job Ntz Mall, now if we can only start enforcing that dang sound ordinance. I can't stand riding around in town b/c there is always some idiot playing his radio as loud as he can.
