I never served but I have a nephew serving now. Most of my family has served and I had one grandfather and two uncles who gave all. I was raised to show loyalty and respect for our servicemen and our country. I recently went and visited the tomb of the unknown solider and watched the ritual of changing of the guard. I was so ashamed of some of the people there. They were so disrespectful by talking during the ceremony and I had to let some of them know about it after the ceremony was over. Even though I didn't serve, I now wonder if we should not have some type of two year mandatory requirement for all 18 year old men to serve to build back the support and respect for our country and servicemen that they deserve.

I would believe that we already have someone who is responsible for overseeing the work done by contractors and we should have guidelines by which they go by to perform their work. If not we should get these guidelines and consult the appropriate people to insure our guidelines have a narrow path to be followed. Then get the PIC to make sure the contractors follow them. As for as hiring a full time horticulturist, I would be against it and I’m against creating any full time position unless it can be backed up with facts that the position can pay for itself either by savings or money brought in. Kevin’s article certainly didn’t do that and left me wondering if we are going to need another hotel tax increase or if he had a family member that is a horticulturist that needs a job.
Kevin- Just joking

Congratulations to all the 9 year olds that represented Natchez so well. They are a solid group of boys in every position and should be proud of their accomplishments, I'm certainly proud of them.
DixieYouthFan you are the type fan Dixie Youth doesn't need. Your going to make accusations about something one of Natchez coach’s said that was inappropriate then make the comments you did. I can defiantly see that you are the bigger man.
Congratulations to Copiah on their win.

No Obama did not visit the injured troops in Iraq. Even his campaign advisor's said so. He said Obama visited troops in Iraq and in Afghanistan (Healthy) but he had made numerous trips to Washington's Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
But what he failed to say is that when he visited the troops he did not talk to the troops that he shunned them. Example being when he went to meet with the Major General in Bagram Afghanistan they had the troops lined up to shake his hand and talk to them but he blew them off and went straight in to meet the general then left there and went straight to the Clamshell to get his picture taken playing basketball and did not meet the troops there either.

McCain has visited injured troops several times not sure of exact number because he doesn't make it a political event when he goes.
Obama was told He needed to make his visit in his capacity as a sitting senator or he would have to do it with the restrictions that apply to any other candidate out there that might be running for office that is not a sitting senator.”
The restrictions are simple and easily meet if your visiting for the right reasons, they were that Obama would not have been able to bring any of his campaign staff — only one Senate staffer and security. He also would not have been able to address the media or make any campaign-related statements.

It is ridicules to be eighty five days later and basically nothing has been done to fill this job. They still don’t have any interviews lined up or even know how many applicants have applied.
They definitely need a chief because every organization or group needs a leader and a organization usually is as good as it’s leadership. As for as the raises, I don't know what the pay scale is for the fire department, but I did see an article the other day for hiring Natchez police officers and if the fireman’s pay is as low as the police officers they definitely need a big pay raise.

Obama showed his true character again, he knew the guidelines around his visit before it was ever set up. But instead of going and visiting these American heroes he past on them for another photo opt. Then he is going to lie and try to blame the Pentagon. CHANGE is something Mr. Obama needs.

A little off the topic but to the people who continue to say President Bush lied to get us into this war. A little honesty would be nice instead of making false statements. Not only did Bush, our congress and senate on both sides believe it but so did our former President's like Bill Clinton. Read statements below:
Other countries possess weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq.
The international community had little doubt then, and I have no doubt today, that left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will use these terrible weapons again.
The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well-being of his people, the peace of his region, the security of the world.
The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government -- a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people.
These are statements made by Bill Clinton in 1998 after he authorized air strikes on Iraq. Of course Bill's reasons also could be called into question because he would not do anything when Saddam refused to cooperate with the United Nations weapons inspectors until the eve prior to vote on his impeachment which these air strikes delayed.
Bush has done what Clinton said needed to be done. It could be debated that they were wrong but to say Bush lied without any evidence is wrong.
To debate which party has done the best is very easy. last 30+ years,
Bush 1, Bush 2, and Reagan VS Clinton & Carter = Enough said

They could have saved the money that was spent on the so called study; everyone already knew the result would be a recommendation to sell the hospital because the people that were funding the study wanted that to be the outcome.
Spanky asked about the people that would loose their retirement and Hospital CEO Scott Phillips said it was possible that some longtime workers could lose benefits, but that those workers were “in the minority.” Spanky that was a good question, but a wrong answer that you got. Did you take Mr. Phillips’ word for it or did you ask to be provide the stats on the number of people that like less than 2, 5, & 10 years and the total number of people that this would actually affect??? I mean what kind of answer is that? What is the minority ? 49% with less than one year? 49% with less than two years? Are the supervisors concerned enough to do their job and find out.
A question I have is that other Counties in our area have county owned hospitals with a lot less population even when you factor in that Natchez has two hospitals and they are not selling out. My belief has been and still is that the hospital is in this position due to poor management.
The county does not owe any money on the facility and they get some tax breaks that other companies will not get. So if the hospital was properly managed and can’t break even, how in the world could another company come in, purchase the hospital, make upgrades, and then make an 18% + profit that corporations want.
I think the Supervisors would rather sell the hospital just so they don’t have to deal with it, instead of doing the job they were elected to do. When ya’ll ran for office did you realize what the job consisted of? Ya’ll wanted the job, now are ya’ll ready to do the work or do ya’ll want to hide behind an useless study and just collect your pay check.
If ya’ll have some more money to waste I can get another company to come in and tell you the best thing to do is keep the hospital.
When you leave don’t forget to turn out the lights!
