Acedog, you are right people drive Liberty Road like the devil himself is chasing them. With the situation however some well placed street lights would have helped prevent this accident. I was on the scene at this accident. This was a horrible example of traveling an unknown country rode in the dark. I live in that area and can tell you that there are anywhere from 8 to 10 accidents a year in that area. The first thing the board of supervisors need to do is repair the gaurdrails on the bridge that were damaged in a wreck over a year ago. Then they need to pay the utility bill for a couple of street lights. THe curve right before the bridge at Second Creek is VERY dangerous. Noone ever realizes how steep it is until it is too late. In this case Mr. Hawthorne missed the curve right after the bridge. Still a great tragedy.

That is correct mike8427! There is No lighting in that area of Liberty Road. This was such a tragedy! My deepest sympathies go out to this man's family.

USMBoy, Let me first tell you that my boys have a very fortunate life. We live far enough in the country that they have many wonderful privleges that the children in town do not have. They have horses, dirt bikes, and four wheelers. They ride them every weekend. The weekdays are off limits due to school and the fact that thier dad and I have to work. They also have to earn the privledge of riding. I REFUSE to raise my boys to be lazy! My thoery is that if they are big enough to mess up my house they can clean it. Thier dad and I aren't the only people in that house that wear clothes and use dishes. Why should I have to work 8 hours a day and then come home and clean up after children old enought to clean up after themselves? By teaching my children to do things for themselves I am teaching them to value anyone who comes into thier lives later in life that may want to give them the privledge of spoiling them. I however will NOT be the person responsible for my children not knowing how to wish dishes or do a load of laundry. If your mother allowed you the luxury of nto having to do those chores then you truly have been blessed. However, do not judge me for teaching my children how to be self suffcient adults when they are older.

It doesn't take too long for an estate to get settled if everything is done legally. The only time it is tied up for years is when someone contest or places a lien on something. It was more than apparent that the only heir to the Wood's estate was Hudson. I can understand the whole wanting justice for thier son side that the Whittingtons are feeling, but taking that out on Hudson just isn't right. He was away at school when all of this went down. Had he been home things would have turned out one of two ways, 1. Hudson would have stopped Connor. or 2. Hudson would have been killed too. I honestly believe that Hudson has suffered enough. I pray that he gets an understanding judge in this law suit. The Whittingtons were entitled to justice. That is what they got on Wednesday. Hudson should not have to suffer any further for Connor's wrong doing!

I live far enough int he country that I cannot get cable. I have a sattelitte. I have the parental controls set so that my children can only watch the things that I approve of. They can't even snick and watch things I do not allow. Nothing above a G rating. I have been paying attention to the rating systems lately. It seems that PG movies are filled with violence, drugs, sex, and foul langauge. If my children watch anything above a G rating it is because I am at home to monitor the movie and put in a passcode to allow it.
All cable and sattelites should come with this feature. Most sattelite companies have it but cable does not.
The strict 8:00 pm bedtime is in effect at my house as well. I am also a firm believer in "Don't ask me for premission to do something if you haven't done you chores and schoolwork all week long." ! That one rule at my house prevents a lot of laziness. With 4 dogs and 3 horses my children don't have time to be lazy. They wanted those animals and that is thier responsibility.
If more adults with children would be parents and not "friends" then the courthouse and the jailhouse wouldn't be so full. People today only want to admit they are parents at tax time. I believe that if you don't want to teach them and raise them, DON'T have them!

At least they will be collecting the trash twice a week now. When the county went to onc a week the price only dropped $.50 a week.

My guess is this woman was just dumb enough to empty her pockets and it fell out on the floor. I really don't believe that ANY of the correction officers do the job they are paid to do. That is just DUMB luck that they caught this woman.
