arceneaux-mathis and david gardner are both good at what they do. david is actually VERY good at what he does. i can tell you from experience of knowing and working with him that if he says it needs to be the way it is, then he is right, or at least more right than anyone else can be. should arceneaux-mathis have made the comment she made, absolutely not. but everyone makes mistakes and some more than others. should david have stormed out? probably not, but everyone has their limit and his had obviously been reached. we must all remember that these people are human and that for every time they lose their cool, there are at least twentysomething instances in which they do not but could just as easily. race needs to be left out of the official business of natchez. but it never has been. most probably think it never will be.

furthermore, has anyone ever seen the drainage "canal" that runs under canal street. i've been in it and photographed it at length in my days with the City. if that area is not taken care of, to include getting the water to this main drainage artery, then nothing concerning drainage will ever work properly in the downtown area. ms. arceneaux-mathis, if david says that's what needs to be done, he's right, and black, white, chinese, or croatian isn't going to change it. now, everyone get over it and get the job done for a better hometown for everyone........

i grew up in adams co. and i'm sorry for all of the people there having to be without power for a few days. as to the title, "Our Katrina," i'm quite sure that all of those people on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and in New Orleans back in '05 would have taken a few days without power over what they had to endure any day. Democrat and Caruthers and any other saying this is "your Katrina" is doing so in very, very poor taste. maybe you should just think a little more about what you're printing......

DOCTOR Delecia Carey is simply trying to keep a bad situation from getting worse with her "politically correct" comments. if i know her like i think i do, she is kicking herself that the security at the school was not being utilized and now this damage has been done.

as for school involvement, precedents have been set in this matter. i recall several years ago, when yours truly was attending TE, a certain individual, we'll call him 'Flash', vandalized our field the week before homecoming. the school that he attended expelled him and he never attended that school again. (of course the irony of all of this is he was accepted for enrollment at a school in our district, go figure). if i were the leadership at an area school, i certainly would not want these criminals associated with MY school. as for children who attend Trinity doing something like this, when i attended, you WOULD HAVE been expelled for something like this, no questions asked. i understand that now there are some people that get special treatment, but that's what happens in private schools and if you don't like it, pull your kids out.

hey rocketman

i feel what you're saying, but that is an OLD subdivision and it's planners had the good sense to put its utilities underground 30 or more years ago. actually MOVING utilities that are already in place underground is what will cost so much.

same ole Natchez, huh? do you want power or do you want "Historic Natchez?" i think we're seeing once again that progress and the history of downtown are getting in each other's way. a choice must be made.......and i'm sure no one down there wants to give up there big screen.

well, that's funny, ntzmom, because, if I remember correctly, Stevan didn't come to Trinity until he was in the 2nd grade, which was his brother, Chad's, seventh grade year and my senior year. I'm not sure how a 5-year-old got in the second grade, but, either way, I'm real proud of you, Stevan, and good luck with the Tigers
