First of all, regardless of who you vote for, the president really has very little to do with the economy. The economy is going to flucuate over years regardless of who is in office. From my point of view, I hope to have someone who is less intrusive in of how people run businesses. Iharris, as far as voting for a black man; that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Think about it. Obama wants to raise taxes on people and businesses that make over $250,000 a year. That is almost every business. We have a small business, the more money that we are able to keep, (not for my personal use), I hire someone to help get more business, the less money that I keep doesn't allow me to hire someone. This is common sense to me. Look at your on household. Would you better with less money or more money. Same principals with households as big business or small business. Here in MS, do you think Nissan can provide more jobs or less jobs with less money if their taxes go up? Please, lets try and think thru all of the fluff that we here.

Oh, thier is definately a wracket going around here. I no several people that have been in wrecks with no one around and no one in the car with the other person. The other car was clearly at fault. All of a sudden people came out of the woodwork, stating that they saw the wreck and it was the person that I know fault. Also, two of these accidents the other party suddenly had other people in the car and in one that I happen to drive up on right after it happened and saw the person who was driving, someone else walked up and claimed to be driving because the person that was accually driving didn't have a drives license. He also attempted to run from the scene but his car was too messed up and died about 75 yards away. They then attempted to say that they had actually gotten hit and it wasn't their fault. Luckily, their was a fireman that saw the wreck, but the police officer almost took the side of the guy trying to run. Also, when the police woman wasn't paying attention, the other party was trying to provoke the fireman and the person that go hit. They ended up trying to sue.

And you wonder why regional can't make it. If she has an expired tag and expired license, chances are she will have no means to pay for her trip to the hospital. Therefore, you can bank on it she is going to sue. This kind of stuff just burns me up.

I don't think people were looking down their noses at you overthehill back in school. They were avoiding that award winning personallity that you have. You sound like one of those people that constantly complain how people are treating you, when you are the common denominator in these relationships. You and only you give people the power to look down their noses at you. I didn't grow up in a privilaged family, but I feel quite comfortable being around rich people or poor people. I realized at a young age that, it was how I felt about myself, not how others feel about me. Then when people see that you have a confidence, they respond to you better. I hope that you are lucky enough to find this within yourself, because when you get it, it will be like winning lifes lottery. Let those old feelings go.

We can argue this point till the ends of time and could never come to the same conclusion. However, their are some who believe that you are responsible for yourself (in good times and bad) and others that believe you are responsible for yourself until it gets bad. I am the person that believes that you are responsible for yourself all the time. Our country was founded on the freedom to take care of yourself. We as a country have completely lost site of that. People in the US have become so comfortable that we really don't know what struggle is all about. We are willing to give up our freedoms to be comfortable. Ask yourself, what does government do well at all, besides the military. I don't know if any of you have any dealings with government. I deal with it on a regular basis. Thier is not a time that I don't want to jump through the phone and put a choke hold on the person on the other end. Government has NO common sense. Why would some of you think that government would run healthcare any better? Let's look at the reasons why healhcare has gotten so high. One reason is law suites. People die that's a fact. You take people to the hospital to TRY and prevent it. If the out come isn't good, you can bank on it that someone is going to sue. The government has allowed this. Our courts have made us all of victims, it is always someone elses fault. If you are not in healthcare, then you don't realize how much government regulations are already in the system. Well it take employees to handle all of these regualtions. How many people do you think the hospitals employee that have nothing to do with healthcare. Their is a web of mess that employees are dealing with. If hospitals could employee mostly people to take care of you, cost would go down. Also, you have way to many people abusing the system. People didn't use to go to the doctor or hospital with 100 fever, a head ache, throwing-up. Offices are full of Medicaid or people that have no intention to pay, for things that they could get accross the counter or stay home and live through it. I have health insurance, but I know people that make more money than me and choose to spend their money on other things. Don't get me wrong. I realize that their are people that out right can't afford insurance. If the government would allow people to right insurance off of their taxes as business are allowed to do, this would help. Sure our system needs some tweeking, but have government take it over, scares the HELL out of me. I like being in control of my life. Apparently some of you don't mind giving up control. This is a very slippery slope. I am sure that they will run it as well as they have run our education system or social security. No thanks, leave me out.

Black, I am as conservative as they come, middle age with kids and attend church every Sunday. I am very against making private companies close at certain times. Government needs to stay out of it. That is part of the appeal that draws people to Natchez whether they choose to stay out all night or not. I have no desire to stay out past 10:00, but if I choose to have a once every 20 year all nighter, I can do it. I know people from all parts of the country that love to come to Natchez because we don't have all of these rediculus laws that every other town has that is our size. Their are enough laws in place to handle all of the problems that are occuring. I think that they should put a police office on foot downtown on weekends, not to harass and arrest everyone that walks out of a bar, but just to have a presence and let them know that someone is watching. Tourist don't come to towns to get arrested. I miss the times when police officers weren't necessarily here to arrest you when you were doing wrong, but willig to help point you on the straight and narrow. You use to could walk out with an open container and if a police office saw you, he would remind you that you had to throw it a way. Know they are just looking for something to arrest you on. Believe me, I am a law abiding citizen and LOVE the police. I just think that common sense has been taken completely out of laws and government. So come on, let adults be adults and lets not let govenment be our baby sitters.

Pluto, the cost of everything in the country has gone up. I don't mean this ugly, but you are not going because of $5!! You can't go in a store in Natchez and come out with a coke and a snack for less than $5. I am going to skip my snack. A gallon of gas was headed close to $5. Why wouldn't you think that this event would not have to raise their price. I respect everyones opinion that doesn't want to go because they think it is to much, but they don't need to knock it. Just stay home. I am of the opinion that this is still a great deal for the price. Next year if they continue to go up and the price is out of the range that I want to pay. I will just stay home. I am not going to publicly complain about it. I hope you change your mind and try and attend. We are going to have fun. It's hard to put a price on a great time and creating memories with people that you enjoy being around. This is only once a year. This type of thing is one of the reasons that I wanted to move back to Natchez.

Look, this is not a deal if you are looking for a bargain. You are paying a premium price to eat a variety of great food and great wine. Go to a nice restaurant and order 10 appetizers and have the opportunity to sample 40 different wines and beer, it will cost you a hundred dollars or more. I love going to this event and can't wait every year for it to come around. All of my friends are going and feel the same way about it. I am paying for the experience, the ability to socialize with people that I don't see very often and on top of that getting some of the finest food and wine around. If you have never been, it is a very enjoyable experience. Last year they had Paul Burrell - Princess Diana's butler there with his wine and signing his book. They have live music. It is a great time. You can't get all of that at your local restaurant.

One of the main reasons that seat belts aren't on buses is liability. If you put seat belts on buses, who is going to be responsible for making sure that every kid is buckled up. Kids are going to do what they want. You are going to have that one child that is not going to stay in there seat belt and their will be an accident, then the bus driver will be sued. If you think about it, thier are millions of kids that ride buses to and from school every day. We have very few kids that are being killed on school buses. If we are truely looking out for the safety of the kids, I think that they should do away with school buses and let the parents take them to school. After all, that would be the safest way. I'm being sarcastic, but everytime something happens to a kid, the country goes crazy about ramping up the safety, which is very expensive. I am not saying that seat belts shouldn't be put on buses, but lets don't get crazy. I have small children and have no problem putting them on a bus. We have all been riding the same school buses for decades.
On Government mandate to include seat belts in 2011
