Sounds like the old "right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing". Everyone needs to abandon their own personal agendas and get together. Seems the key here is communication. Since Phillips was brought in to "right the hospital", he should have been included in ALL meetings. Maybe if he had been there, the Board of Supervisors wouldn't have to be backpedaling because they have already interviewed consultants and, evidently, that was supposed to be left up to Phillips. I was also under the impression that "legal counsel" to help maneuver through the bankruptcy process had already been retained ~ but the article today says the Board is going to hire Butler Snow as legal counsel. Just who is in charge here OR are there way too many chiefs and not enough indians? Definitely time for a "pow wow"!

EnKiKur - If you want to talk to Bland so badly please e-mail him directly instead of using the discussion board.

Are you kidding me? If this in some way would benefit the town of Ferriday that might be a different matter, but this is the stupidest proposal I have ever heard. I can't believe it was even brought to a vote and I don't blame whats-his-name for walking out of the meeting when this was put up for a vote. All of them should have walked out except, of course, for Mrs. Lloyd and Mayor Allen - the interested parties.
On Should the town of Ferriday pay Mayor Gene Allen's way to Las Vegas for a pageant?

ericstratton - The information comes from a nurse that currently works at NRMC who said they were told yesterday that on Monday there would be layoffs and the employees would be told then who was being laid off. I'm sure the news made for a great weekend for the employees. Not gossip - if I didn't completely trust the source I wouldn't repeat it.

Someone please explain to me..........how does this effect the Natchez project? Why is the tribe upset about the Natchez casino? I guess I'm just dumb, but this needs an explanation. Anybody know?

Seems as though one of the CEOs is taking the lead. There will be layoffs announced Monday. Don't know how extensive the layoffs will be, but they're coming! How sad when the inevitable finally happens. We all knew it was coming and here it is!

I'm all for collecting DNA if you're arrested. Heck, I think DNA should be collected from everyone. It would make tracking the criminal element a lot easier. Who cares if "they" wanted to plant chips under our skin to track our every move - as long as you aren't making CRIMINAL moves.

Ghost - Is the paragraph below what you're talking about on http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/529/...
corruption? Is it very interesting that I haven't seen a word about this in the ND. Has anyone else?
"In Natchez, Mississippi, a former Vicksburg police officer was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in federal prison for taking bribes to protect what he thought were drug shipments. Kevin Williams, 37, was convicted of extortion last October in federal court. Prosecutors said Williams took bribes totaling $3,000 from undercover officers between November 2002 and May 2003, when he was serving as a sergeant in the city's narcotics division. He was indicted in March 2007 and arrested in Hawaii, where he was serving as an Army military police officer."

O.K., I wasn't going to put a dog in this hunt, BUT, I just have to say that the second floor in the physician's building IS occupied by Family Medicine Physicians (several of them) and soon, hopefully, will also house the office of a cardiologist. There are 3 floors - the first floor with Drs. Haimson & Passman, After Hours Clinic and Imaging Center; the third floor with Internal Medicine Associates (Stubbs, Daly, Mire) as well as the OB/GYN office of Dr. Frank Guedon. Just don't want everyone thinking that the second floor is sitting there empty - it isn't.

dixiemama - Read the article again. The man (Foster) who HIT the motorcyclist (Mitchell) and killed him escaped unharmed and actually fled the scene. They reported that Foster was driving under the influence - not the motorcyclist who was pronounced dead on the scene.
On Man dies in wreck; charges filed
