"These are the kind of people we want downtown"! What an arrogant remark, Larry. The folks who stay at the RV park in Vidalia are also "the kind we want downtown." I'm sure there are a few folks in the area who would prefer you not live here, in light of your past behavior. Shame on you. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Ours was picked up a week later because we filled MANY large trash bags.I can remember when the city had a truck(when Tony Byrne was Mayor) that came around after storms and picked the debris up...never waiting to get federal aid. Wonder if all the debris has been picked up on Union Street???

It's just a sad time that people feel the need to steal from hardworking, honest people. Remember when we had a county jail, city jail, Parchman? Now you see prisons all over. I liked the way things were when I grew up.Unlocked doors and people respected other people's property and space.I hope they catch these folks and prosecute them.They need to be off the streets.I feel if you commit a crime, you should do time.And that includes ANYBODY who has admitted guilt to any crime or those who have been caught.

Why can't the the police and sheriff's departments conduct roadblocks often and not just during holiday week-ends?

Personally, I have not experienced the 'closed for lunch' problem...yet.However, I entered a store on Main Street last month to inquire about a range.The employee at the desk was on a cell phone and you could tell by the conversation it was a personal call.After looking around and glancing at her for 10 minutes I left. the Hosford's lost a sale because of that employee.She saw me and she ignored me.
