"If you build it, they will come!" This has to be a major focus for our city and will be a vital part of our economy! Kudos to all involved in making this happen. Our local leadership must understand, embrace and nurture this opportunity!

Thanks, just went back and read that Mr. Middleton is registered democrat! My mistake!

Sam, we have a democrat, republican and an independent running for mayor. I apologize for my ignorance, but which part am I confused on? Again, I previously stated that my comments were not based on racial slurs, but based on representation of our population. That's entirely different. Our cities population happens to be about 50/50!

Again, what local taxes go to NRMC? It is owned by the county. The county supervisors have obtained large government bonds for the hospital. Very large bonds, of which the tax payers are responsible for only if the hospital closes! Secondly, NRMC is governmentally owned and was never intended to be a "charity" hospital as locals have treated it. Poor management is responsible for the uncompensated care. This accounts for 8 million of the hospitals enormous debt and is a mere smokescreen. Hence, the need for filing Chapter 9. I have read the blogs for many weeks now. It's scary! The information and opinions of locals is poor. I hope prospective businesses are not reading the blogs or we are doomed!
On Should Natchez Regional Medical Center be a not-for-profit hospital?

Sarcasim is negaive. That's not the point. Reds overall point ,if you don't mind the presumption, is that previous leadership has proven to be as bright the captain of the Titanic! Now that we've opened that "can", let's include the hospital's Board of Trustees and the County Board of Supervisors in that last statement. The Board of Trustees have good intentions, the County Board of Supervisors want to be re-elected! That puts the Supervisors in a quagmire since most ran campaigns based on no new taxes. It is to the county's and Board of Trustee's best interest that Mr. Phillips "plan of action" succeed!
My point is ,let's be constructive for our own benefit, not destructive!

Signs? Colors of signs? The election will be won on demographics, not signs or location of signs! The two white guys will split the white vote and Mayor West will be re-elected. This isn't rocket science! A furniture store owner/manager split the vote last time or else Sue Stedmond would be Mayor today! Do not construe these comments as racially negative. Candidates represent their constituents. Popularity has overcome integrity and credibilty in today's politics! Regardless, the process provides for fair representation of the population. The only fault lies with corrupt redistricting of voters.

To all previous bloggers with negative attitudes towards the financial status of NRMC, none of you have considered the some 400 employees. Their livelihood is at stake! This county does own the hospital yet not one cent to operate the facility comes from the county. Our supervisors are giving Rentech anything they ask for! For 200 jobs? I hope none of you get sick, or have an emergency if there is no NRMC! NCH cannot handle half the volume of patients that NRMC provides for. That is not a shot at the Quality of NCH. Riverpark is not a hospital and does not have an ER. Riverland? Afterall, with friends like you all, who needs enemies! A little support would be nice, give the elected officials a chance to work it out with the new management team. Otherwise, let the banjos play on!!!

Payment is due when contracts are upheld. The question will lye with proof of Quorum upholding their end of the contract. It's possible that many aspects of the contract are technically in question, in regards to being "upheld". Bancrupty changes will also allow for renegotiation of many of those contracts. Remember, Quorum was hired to manage and operate the hospital. The hospital's ability to stay open and operate is the current problem. A lawsuit will not be in either party's favor. A fair settlement should be made. This entire issue should amplify the importance of who we as a county vote in as our county supervisors!
On Quorum headed out at NRMC soon
