I am not happy that he won, I personally don't like that his campaign has used race. Everywhere, it's his race that is mentioned first. Who cares if he is black? Did anyone care that McCain was white? If McCain had won, would the ND headline read this morning "The nation's 44th WHITE President"?
Nope.
It's a fact proven last night, thousands of people voted for Obama, strictly for his race. The media has accomplished what it set out to do. There were 12 Presidential candidates in all, but the one only ones you ever heard about were McCain and Obama.
Well, the race is over, he has won. So, it's time for everyone to pull together and hope that the next 4 years are good ones. Maybe he'll do a good job, I don't know. But either way, I'm glad it's over, because frankly I'm sick of hearing about his heritage. Who knows...maybe next election the ND headline will read "The Nations first woman President." OH OH OH! Or maybe " The Nation's first Latino President"...
No? How about "The Nation's first gay President."
Now that would be historical.
Or was hysterical? Either way the man won because he is black, not because he is qualified. Now lets just hope he gets spectacular on the job training. :)

YES! I agree! This actually happened to me a couple of months ago, and I had parked and got out in the rain, only to be greeted with that sign...I was less than happy, and ended up ordering what I needed online the next day. Bring a lunch from home people!

I wish they'd expand the theater..4 screens just simply isna't enough, and the chairs are old and dreadfully uncomfortable. Not to mention, there are so many movies that we miss, because they simply don't show them here. We have to drive all the way to another town just to go to a decent theater. The restaurant would be welcome too, I'd LOVE an Applebee's, or maybe Olive Garden.

Yes! Just this past weekend, I traveled to New Jersey for a Horror convention called Monstermania. I met and took pictures with Robert Englund (freddy krueger) Tom Savini, Tyler Mane (Sabertooth) Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Kane Hodder, and that's just to name a few. They are all famous in the horror movie industry, maybe not mainstream, but I was also in Wal-Mart in New Orleans a few years back and met the rapper Juvenile..and back in 1990 I met Michael Landon.

When I said simply "LEAVE", that's what I meant. I was 13 when my mother had enough of her abusive boyfriend that beat her and molested me. She had no money, but we packed bags and left. Am I saying it was simple? NO. We went to a local church and they took us in and arranged work for her so we could save money to move to Kansas with my grandmother. Yeah, he threatened, he called and followed us around. He even cornered me at the school bus stop and tried to bully me until a parent who just so happened to be bringing her child something that had been forgotten at home saw and ran him off and called the police. It wasn't easy, but it can be done, even with no money. Threats or no threats. So I HAVE been in that position, and I do know how it feels.

Charliesangel2008:
Thanks for the giggle. It was appreciated. :)
No venting necessary, in fact, if you read my post, it was not an angry one. Just simply stating a fact, that he was elected because the turnout of people strictly voting BECAUSE of his color. I actually overheard a discussion between two gentlemen at Natchez Market last weekend, where it was stated clearly by one of them that he was voting for Obama because he "wasn't white".
Obama may be well educated, but to say he is well qualified is laughable.
As for the previous black Presidential nominees, there is a reason they weren't elected...it's because they were only there BECAUSE they were black. There was a huge rush to elect a black President, for that reason alone. This time at least, the candidate was worthy of at least a second glance. I mean, really...Al Sharpton, President? Can you imagine?
