My husband and I go to Winnsboro Wal-Mart most of the time where the majority of the employees are friendly and very helpful. The one in Vidalia is also way better than Natchez.
We recently visited Red Lobster in Monroe. The dining experience was fabulous. The manager circulated among the diners, chatted, offered to help, etc. The server had a smile and was extremely courteous and efficient. We will definitely go back. There are, however, places in Natchez where we do not dine because of the service and overall atmosphere. If I have good service, I let the employee know as well as the manager. If I have bad service, the employee and manager both know.
As for cell phones, if I am ignored because an employee is on the cell phone, the manager will definitely hear about it.

Yes, I believe there are cougars. For one reason, as has been stated, the high water could have sent them our way. The "experts" aren't always right. Can they know what animal is on every inch of land in Adams County? How can they state definitely that there are no cougars in Adams county?
On Do you believe there has been a cougar in Downtown Natchez recently?

Legislators can triple their salary, but when it comes to giving teachers a raise, they are thrown a little doggie bone: "here, educators, take this itsy bitsy raise that doesn't amount to much per month and be happy."
Thank you, Neil Riser, for standing up for your constituency. I like what you said "“ I knew what the job paid when I took it.”

Bring on ALL the CSI staff from both shows They could bring all their equipment and then leave it for our locals to use after they leave. Think of all the crimes and unsolved mysteries that would be solved.

If discipline is returned to the home setting, then discipline would improve in the school setting. I'm a firm believer that a major problem of our school (no matter if it's Ferriday, Vidalia, Natchez, Ridgecrest, Monterey, or any other public school) is that the parents don't have control at home. But I digress and am off topic of the article.....students should have to provide proof of residency every year in all grades. Just because they "prove" residency in the 6th grade doesn't mean they will stay in the correct zone for 7th grade, etc.

This brings back memories of when I would go frog-gigging with my daddy way back when. Yummy! Frog legs - it's been a long time since I had some.

FYI: ”That court order, issued by a federal judge, removed the district's unitary status; restructured its campuses; and placed strict guidelines on the racial balance of both classes and administrations.
The court order came as a result of a lawsuit filed by three Natchez couples, including two men who are now elected officials.” Quote from ND December 4, 1999
“West is one of several plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit, that led a 1989 integration court order.” Quote from ND December 6, 1999
And yes, it is sad that more people did not attend the meeting. Education in a community should be the concern of all citizens, not just those who have children in the shool system.
