It's great to see that there are still volunteers willing to help with 4-H. Hats off to these volunteers and to the 4-Hers for their projects in the community.

"misplaced modifier" that should read "to study for his test at the George W. Armstrong Library to become a certified teacher "

Good to hear the libraries are experiencing an upturn in patron visits and usage; there is more to a library than printed material; visit your library often; and when school starts back, encourage your child to visit his/her school library as well;

What a delightful article to read,
Full of insight and knowledge to breed;
Now if only the parents would take the lead,
What a wonderful summer for children in need
Of something to do with all of their time,
So no longer "I'm bored!" will they whine.

Thanks, Julie, for a great reminder
That there are lots of things to do right here in our own backyard.

Thanks, Ben, for reminding us to "stop and smell the roses". We all have times when something will trigger a good remembrance from our childhood.

Your last paragraph sums it up well.

Although I am not an LSU fan, this article says Southern University students, not LSU students. But, no matter which university was involved, hazing should be outlawed everywhere. There are other ways to be initiated into an organization.

Congratulations, Harrison! Sounds like you can achieve what you put your mind to achieving. (so, why wasn't he pictured with the STAR teacher?)

Yes, Mayor Copeland, study the state's policy; You will see that there are tiers for expense reimbursements. For example, the amount of food expenses is different depending on the city. Check it out. Breakfast would be $13.00 in NYC or DC. www.doa.Louisiana.gov/osp/travel

By the way, What about Block High School? Who is covering that game? They should be listed as an area team who happens to be playing at home. Can you give us an update on that score?

This is great news! Several Friday nights I have searched to find scores; couldn't find them anywhere. Guess I was looking in all the wrong places. I am anxious to see how this turns out. Thanks, Markets and Natchez Democrat. (Ben, I hope you don't have power failure tonight.)
