Mr. Donnie was such a nice guy. When we were building fire stations for District 2 he was extremely helpful in getting all our paperwork oked so we could have restrooms in them.

Kenneth and Family, I want to extend my condolences to you on the passing of your Father and husband. Seems like yesterday we lived down the street from you in Bude. Hold tight to the memories and he will live on forever.

So sorry to hear about Mrs. Opal's passing. She was such a sweet lady. I met her years ago when she and Mr. Quinton were friends with my parents. They all went to the Moose Lodge together . I had no idea whatever happened to her after my parents passed away and am so sorry I didn't know she was still around. We will keep all of you in our prayers.

No matter where you go today you find murder, rape, car theft, breaking and entering etc. Yesterday a small girl was reported missing around dark. Within an hour she had been located and reunited with her parent. The VPD went to work as soon as they received the call. Chief Hendricks, Asst Chief Lewis, and all their staff took to the streets searching and asking questions. As the information was gathered, locations were checked, and ultimately the child was found, unharmed. When a major crime has been committed here in our town our police department has responded as professionals. The incident on Myrtle Street is one of those where everyone wants to blame someone for what happened and point fingers but if you commit a crime in your home and it doesn't get reported then who's to blame? Our neighborhood watch programs work if we get involved. Keep your eyes and ears open everyday and report any suspicious activity when you see it. I agree also that our judges need to be harder on criminals and not just slap them on the wrist.
I too have lived in other towns and overall Vidalia is one of the safest. Just my opinion.

I agree with you Gimmeabreak. Law Enforcements motto is To Serve and Protect. A lot of voters have elderly parents and this is an important issue. Craig, Randy, Danny, Ray and all candidates know the importance of this. A designated person can be assigned this duty and also be used in other capacity's. I think it's a great idea and one day we may be wishing for someone to check on us. Just my opinion.

So where was Wal Mart Security? Did cameras catch pictures of them. I agree with bayougranny but also realize she was probably scared out of her mind. Hope arm of assailant rots off.

Ken, Martha, and family,

Just wanted to extend my condolences to you and your family on your Mother's passing. I heard about it Tuesday and wanted to come to the funeral home but had some work done in my mouth and couldn't make it.

Now is the time to hang onto those memories of the good times with your Mom. She is in a better place and not hurting any longer.

May God bless all of you during this time and may all your friends be there for you.

Such a tragedy but could have been so much worse if it had happened in the middle of the night. Battalion Chief Wesley is right. The thermal imaging cameras can see heat through the paneling, drywall or even heavy smoke. We have one in our department and it has served us well several times.
Any time you smell smoke call the fire department. We may not be able to repair the problem but we can usually speed the process up when it comes to life safety. Great Job NFD.

They did this before and it shows the working relationship between the two States as well as the different departments. Awesome to see so many Law Enforcement vehicles together in a convoy.
