again..this is nothing more than sour grapes on the part of the aldermen and mayor who did not get their person appointed. The appointment is done...get over it and move on. At least we know that Dr. Wright cares about the district and will not be afraid to speak up when needed. So instead of all this infighting, Jake, Bob, & Mark.....move on! We have way more important issues to deal with.

this is simply a case of half of the Board being upset that their candidate didn't get selected. Jake had his own person that he wanted appointed since before he became Mayor and they weren't selected during the first vote..Thelma Newsome was. Quit acting like sore losers and get behind the appointee.

hitchcock..surely you were joking when you called Shirlely Chisolm a troublemaker? If not, I guess you're the type that think all blacks should be back on the plantation. Since when is exercising your right as an American citizen "trouble-making"?

aak1972...so the anti-christ was supposedly the one who delivered Israel from tyranny? I don't think so!

kpage...62 MILLION people voted for him....so you're saying you know more than all of them? 62 MILLION people believe that even though he lacks experience, he is the right person to lead this country at this time. As for "experience", McCain had it but never did anything to benefit all Americans during all his years in congress. Sometimes the worst thing you can have is experience...it means you have a record of just how apathetic you have been.

there is a big difference between being a christian and being someone who thinks they are. Many "bible-thumpers" are the ones who are the most bigotted in this community. They ARE NOT christians.....attending church does not make you a christian...LIVING the bible does.

as usual, Mississippi is two steps behind everybody else...the hatred and anomosity posted on these blogs is truly astounding. Makes one think that the KKK is alive and well in our quaint little river town. Obama won nationally..states on both coasts and in the north. The only place he didn't win was the south...big surprise!! So do people in our community know something 62 million Americans don't know about him. Of course not! The rest of the country simply did not fall for all the negative propaganda that the McCain camp spewed...muslim? PULEEEEEEZE! Give me a break!

Natchez Democrat- why is it that every time you feature pictures/articles about Obama you quote/feature only African-Americans? There were plenty of white people in Adams County that voted for him too. Why perpetuate the stereotype that only black people suppported him?
