Why the "no bandanas or hoods on heads" rule?
Honestly, I just want to know. Is it some 'gang' type thing that is considered to be undesirable, or is there some other reason?

Just the other day, my small daughter and I were at a gas station. She said, "Mommy, that man doesn't have any pants on!". I had not noticed anyone nearby, but horrified, I quickly looked around. I saw a fellow putting air in one of the tires on his car. His pants were so low, they were literally below his rear end.
He had on boxers, but my child could not understand why a grown man would not have his pants on out in public. How do you explain this to a 5 year old?

I agree 150% Swap! These days, you just can't be too careful. How one could EVER drop off a child that age (or even a few years older) is beyond me. I live on a relatively safe and quiet street, but still feel too nervous to let my children play in the yard without me with them. You just never know what danger could be lurking around the corner.
Just as you, it makes me ill to think of what could happen to these unsupervised children mentioned in the article. We can't be with our children at all times, but we certainly must remain vigilant to protect them as much as possible.

Overthehill, I don't see anything defensive in my post. On the contrary, I simply stated a fact... You and others seem to think that anyone who moved here after Katrina should be reviled as some type of human garbage. Read through some of the comments just on this one thread alone.
You presume a lot. Why would you question what I did after the storm. For your information, I DID clothe, I DID feed and helped out any way I could think of. Most compassionate people who live here did the same thing.

I agree with you Ozzette. But all of us do not feel the way that a lot of these posters here do. What I have read on this thread is nothing more than a form of prejudice, pure and simple.
I don't like criminals any more than the next person, but we as a society can NOT just bunch a large group of people together and decide for ourselves that they are criminals. I never understand the mentality of some when it comes to the subject of Katrina evacuees. It's downright hateful.
I know several families that have moved here after the wake of Katrina, and I've been lucky enough to have made some great new friends.
All of us aren't bad eggs around here, I promise!

To all you self-righteous people....Remember one thing...the women were the VICTIMS.
I will never understand why a gang mentality erupts
on these types of stories, with the tide turning against the victims.
From what I can take from the story, it doesn't appear that these women were committing any type of crime.
You folks posting all this garbage should be so ashamed of yourselves.

For all you conspiracy theorists out there...this one truly does seem suspicious to me.
Inside job?
Not only did the thieves enter through a door which is always locked, they were knowledable enough to break into the office to steal the tapes? Hmmm?

HOW did the robber enter the store?? I have made purchases from this store several times at night, and am aware that they LOCK their doors around 11PM. There is a little window where you have to go if it is after the doors are locked.
So, how in the world would this person be able to enter through the door at that time of the morning???
