Congrats to the students! This is the same poster contest that is offered to students in Concodia & Tensas parish schools. The Tensas-Concordia Soil & Water Conservation District participates in this contest every year but only a few students enter each year. Last year a Kindergarten student from Ferriday Lower entered and won at the local, state and national level.

Ads have been run in the Sentinel and Tensas Gazette and information packets have been distributed to ALL schools in Concordia & Tensas. Hopefully we'll get more entries this year.

Just to set the record straight, Ferriday players did not start the altercation. From the beginning of the game we watched as Natchez players constantly pushed and shoved Ferriday's players on the field. The ref's just stood there and watched, no one said anything. I was not surprised when I read the article and the blame was placed on Ferriday's boys. The altercation started when one of Natchez's players hit another one of Ferriday's players and he struck back. It's really a sad situation that teams can't come together and play some good 'ole football. Years ago when I was in school the two teams would play each other and the same thing happened then, Natchez players would always pick fights with Ferriday's players. It's just sad!

I believe they were all between the ages of 19 & 22. All were from Ferriday. Terrence Johnson was the stand-out quarterback at Huntington last year, he played at Ferriday before then. He and one of the others were students at Alcorn. Please pray for all the families involved.

That is awesome! I graduated from Ferriday High and it is such a pleasure to see a student representing FHS at the national level. Congratulations!

(tolduso) I totally agree. What about the Ferriday Kindergarten student who won 2nd place in the NATION in the poster contest. This was under the School News and didn't receive not one comment. Both of these students should be commended for making National News. I would like to congratulate both of them. Keep up the good work!
