I live in Jonesville and I am very excited about the whole project. I plan on buying at least 5 or 6 chances to be the "button pusher" to demolish the old bridge. I am also looking forward to the excavation of the dirt from the bridge approach. The historic value of any findings will be priceless. Part of the area has already been excavated during the new bridge construction. I think this is a good project for my tax dollars. A much better project than some of the "pork" that is in the federal budget.

The article said the recently completed 5 lane bridge in Jonesville is open. Again, bad reporting. Only 2 lanes of the bridge is open. The bridge is also only a 4 lane bridge. Part of Hwy 84 will be 5 lane in Jonesville, but the state was too cheap to 5 lane all of the highway through Jonesville. Over half of the highway will only be 3 lane.

They were shooting at a 15 yr old! Did you see their ages? Of course I have no idea what the earlier altercation was, but 3 grown men shooting at one teenager! You can't tell me that they did not know there were 2 people in the car before they opened fire. I just don't understand the total disregard to human life some people have these days to shoot at one person and not caring who else might get hurt.

Public Schools get a certain amount of money from the state for each student so if a school is aware of a student that is crossing district lines to attend another school they will often report it. Of course the school where the student is attending out of district is not usually going to say anything since they are getting the extra money. The article says 12 students from one school have left and that is money that will not go into the school. If these students attend private schools then the state will probably not have to pay anything for the kids education so the state benefits. We all know that education use to be in the student's best interest...but not anymore. It seems to be all about the money or politics.

I'm not sure that dividing into 2 schools would do any good. I teach at a high school in Louisiana and we have 16 and 17 year old students that are only in the 9th or 10th grade. I also have seniors that are taking 9th grade level classes because they have not passed those yet. It is a difficult situation when you have older students in the same class with students that are 3 and 4 years younger.
