On Sheriff’s deputy fired after wreck

Posted on June 27 at 10:52 a.m.

I think that ANY elected person who runs for office and gets elected should get his/her pay and be done with it. If he/she wants a pay raise, they should be allowed to vote on it and if it passes it should take effect on the first day after the next elected people are seated. If they get re-elected, that is fine, then they can have the raise. If they don't win, the new person gets the raise that was already voted on. If someone runs for an office, they know beforehand what that position pays, and if they don't think that they can live on that, they should not run for that particular office!!!
I think that I want to go to work for Wal-Mart and after I am hired, I will call Bentonville and TELL THEM that I want to give myself a raise because me and some others at work decided that we did not make enough money for the job that we do----I think that would go over really well with the CEO. Elected people work FOR the public, not the other way. This item has been a sore subject with me wherever I live. It happens a lot more than the average person would ever know!

EnKiKur---Why not just staying home on voting day? If you are going to vote for one of the three you suggested, you may as well stay home and not waste your vote. I like one of the people you mentioned, but he ain't got a snowball chance in you know where of being elected. The election commission could take the votes for all three of these combined and let one person have them and it would not make a difference----except in the final outcome maybe!
Look at Perot---Clinton paid all of his expenses and kept him in the race just so Perot would split the Republican vote, and it worked. Perot did not have a chance of winning, but he split the vote and Clinton won.

That IS my point---you were telling everybody to put up with their sorry service JUST BECAUSE they employed local people---and that is wrong. Even you said that you would not go back to a business if they treated you badly, so why are you telling the fine citizens of Natchez to keep their lousy cable service just because the hire local people????

I really don't think anyone would complain if the cable company shut down due to poor service. Then everyne would go to Dish or Direct and be very happy with their new service and the only ones who would be sad about the cable office closing would be the employees. And then, they would have only themselves to blame for their being unemployed!!!!!
I know that if one of the Loy's in town were to here of an employee being rude or disrespectful to a customer, he or she would be in the office immediately! And I would be willing to bet that if it ever happened again, that employee would be fired---no questions asked---that is considered good customer relations.
If they hired people who were rude, do you think they would be where they are now?

Your arguement is that the cable company employes local people----so does the restaurant that you are not going to eat at anymore because of the poor servive...so does the grocery store that you are not shopping at anymore because of the poor way they treated your spouse....so does the gas station that you used to buy gas at before you were treated badly....so does the car dealership that you will never buy a car from because they treat you like a treed coon and won't let you just look....so does the local video store that you refuse to rent movies at anymore because they have Xrated movies there and you just don't think that is right...and the list goes on and on and on and on....!!!

just me 123---you need to get on one side or the other of this fence you are on!! You are telling everyone to keep their POOR service with the cable company and not let the poor employees go to the unemployment line---but now you are saying that you would not shop at a store or eat at a restaurant that YOU get poor service at. Do you think that you not shopping or eating there might hurt their business?
Don't you think that eventually this might make the business go under? And if it does go under, then everybody that works there is no longer employed----BECAUSE OF POOR SERVICE--and YOU, justme123 put them all in the unemployment line!! You should be ashamed and take all of them home to feed them at night!

I went to a restaurant once here that my wife and I go to on a pretty regular basis. As we were ordering, I heard a cell phone ring and our waiter interrupted me in the middle of our order and said, "I will be right back" and stepped away from the table. He reached into his apron and answered his personal cell phone and talked to his girlfriend for about two minutes. He then came back and finished taking our order. We ate and I talked to the owner about it before we left and it was taken care of immediately.
I walked up to him as we were leaving and I said, "Oh, here is your tip..." and he held out his hand as I am usually a good tipper. I told him that his tip from me was the next time his cell phone rang and he was taking an order from somebody, not to step away and take the call. He was fired within a week of that for doing the same thing to someone else.
justme123---the way you are talking, do you believe that the owner should keep him working there just so he won't be unemployed????
What if it was YOUR business, would you fire him or let him stay?

Why put up with shabby service justme123? If you go to the grocery store and your wife asks a clerk for help with something and they tell her that she can go find it herself because they are too busy talking to their boyfriend or girlfriend on the cell phone---are you just gonna leave it alone and say "oh well--maybe we can find it next week when we come here to be dumped on again?"

It looks like they would really get tired of listening to people complain "day in and day out" like justme23 said. If I had to listen to the same stuff everyday, I would do my best to fix it so I wouldn't have to listen to the same complaints everyday---don'tcha think??????
It would not take a rocket scientist to figure that out....why listen to it if it can be fixed?
If it CAN'T be fixed, then tell the customer that and lower your rates until you can fix it!!!!!!
Don't keep lying to the customer!!
