On Visitor center ‘idea’ had help from public

This was house-cleaning, not economic down-sizing. Lewis may have been certified, but was doing a crummy job. Natchez does need a planning department, everybody who knows what the department is responsible for knows that. The economy warranted down-sizing, and the Mayor and BOA would have been crazy to trim from the bottom when there were two sorry department heads who needed to go as well. Canning the planning head and the public works head because of poor job performance makes perfect sense. But they aren't lay-offs for budget trimming, these people will be replaced in some form.

Bravo, Alex Allain. Eloquent and logical. Nice to read a decent letter-to-the-editor once in a while.

Time for a shake-up in all the departments concerning applications for money. The normal laziness and procrastination in the city government work force needs to be suspended when it comes to getting the (free!) money in. The public works director should have been all over it. Engineering should have been all over public works, with documentation copied up, down and sideways when public works didn't get it in. Board of Alderpeople: Get a system for following up on the money! Especially the free money that only needs to be applied for!

Elected and non-elected, you have failed us. You can do way better than you're doing. You are accountable, whether you'll be held accountable or not.

It's complicated, but Woody grasps it and lays it out all very neatly for people who want to bother to read it. Hopefully some will.
