I disagree with the statement that the current mayor and BOA are not the problem. They are absolutely the problem.

I agree completely that Natchez needs a city manager, and the city manager should be David Gardner.

Alcorn produces very few quality educators. Most of the teachers form Alcorn cannot speak English any better than their students, then we wonder why the language scores are so low. No form of academic English, which is appropriate in an academic setting, is used. They speak like their students. Even an administrator at the high school last year, when discussing hiring new teachers said, "There is too much Alcorn influence here." Of course, the academic results in the district tell the story best.

Mr. Braswell has made a good point about the focusing on the tourism industry to the exclusion of others. A tourism based economy will not bring the good paying jobs with health and retirement benefits that industries such as Armstrong once provided. Is anyone concerned about the plight of blue collar families in Adams County and by extension, Concordia Parish? In the tourism based economy we presently have, blue collar workers must rely on jobs in the service industry.
We should continue to develop the city's tourism economy, but also manufacturing jobs. A good first step would be for the Federal Government to abolish NAFTA and CAFTA so American companies can compete in that economic sector.

Haven't Alcorn education graduates done enough damage to to the NASD and the teaching profession?

Chuck has all of the qualities a sheriff should have: education, experience and a strong sense of justice. He will make a good sheriff. Many law enforcement vehicles have the phrase, "To Protect & Serve" on them. Chuck remembers the "serve" part as well as the "protect" part.
Many people have posted that this candidate and that candidate are nice, good people. I have met all of the candidates except for Cox and Owens and can say they are all good men, at least the candidates I have met. We should base votes on issues and qualifications.

Yes, our visitors did see "shawn". He was at the Saloon with his cool little dog. LOL (I know it was a typo.)

I'm not sure being a school rent-a-cop qualifies one to be sheriff.

Barber runs for sheriff every time the position is up for election and never comes close to winning. Can't the guy take a hint? He's a serial campaigner.

If the vote totals that the ND reported are accurate, the runoff should be an easy win for Mayfield. As voting has been along racial lines, which is normal for Adams County, it can be expected that the only votes Brown will add to his total for the runoff will be the 268 votes that Owens received. The votes cast for the other candidates will most likely go to Mayfield, resulting in a convincing victory. This is fine with me because i voted for Chuck anyway.
I wonder if D. New wants his $120,000 back?
On Brown assured runoff; battle between Mayfield, Freeman
