Hand out mentality? I was told the kids had raised about $6,000 and wanted the district to cover the rest. They are lucky the board agreed to give them anything. Students who accomplish great things are rare in our schools so you would think Morris would want to show them off. Apparently not.

I think they should ban smoking in bars too. It would be nice to go have a drink and not come out smelling like an ashtray.

iconoclast is right when he states that abortion should not be a political issue. The fact that it has become entrenched in politics is proof of one the pitfalls of representative democracy: Stupid people like Virginia O'Beirne get to vote too.

Well done Mr. Wiggins. The truth has never mattered to people like Virginia O'Beirne. However, she is just one among many. The latest chain email I received has gone beyond claiming Obama is a muslim, but that he is the anti-christ. Conservatives obviously do not believe the things they do because of integrity or high intellectual capacity.

Assuming these animals were photographed in the location claimed, and the Louisiana wildlife officials seem to have doubts about that, how could they migrate across the Mississippi River? Cougars don't swim. If they came from West Texas, they would have to cross either the Sabine River or the Red River to get to Allen Parish.
In a post to an earlier article on the subject, someone compared the cougars to Black Bears living in the area. The difference is that the bears leave evidence of there presence and have been captured and tagged by state wildlife officials. If there is a cougar in the area, it is an escaped pet.
