him2her, you need to get your facts straight before you rant and rave about things you know nothing about. The mayor is not related to the Stagg family. He knows just about everyone and calls most of them his friend. What is your beef with someone having a job and doing their job? Can only people work for Vidalia that the mayor does not know? It would be hard to find someone like that. Seems to me you are unhappy with your lot in life so you want to make waves for the ones you don't like, how sad! On the subject of Danny's Lounge, the owners have not been consistent in their controlling what goes on in and around their business. They could be shut down because of all the complains over the years. If all the bars in Natchez close at 2am then Vidalia would see too many people cross the bridge and possibly cause more problems than already exist. Natchez Belle, how can you say that the VPD is responsible for all the bad things happening? Doing their jobs have nothing to do with someone doing drugs and driving drunk. Do you think they buy them the drugs and alcohol and make them take it? The police can only catch the ones they see and I do believe they do their job. If you have any ideas how to do it better then let all of us know. Justayappin, why don't you call city hall and find out about any change in your insurance.

dynahog, Ask all the broke investors about John Rivera's knock of opportunity in Natchez. He came and gave away (a little) money and this made him look good. He is using the same( MO in Baytown) to make money for himself not the investors. The same story about four reactors and the excuses he uses to delay the process. If he is so honest and sincere, then why leave Natchez owing bills? How convenient that the opportunity just happened to knock in Baytown. I have always heard you have to spend money to make money, John Rivera must have heard the same. I wonder how much he had to give away (in Baytown) to convince the people there what a great guy he is! When Baytown goes the same as Natchez then I wonder what opportunity and town will knock next. Did you ever think where he got the money to give (a little) away? It must have been the investors, so the investors are the real ones who helped people in need!! John Rivera should have his date in court and let the chips fall where they may.

dynahog, please explain why John Rivera can make this great discovery in Baytown and not Natchez. He was set up and ready to go and he also harped on the so called four reactors he had up and running. He did the test in Vidalia and where did that get the investors except left holding an empty bag. Now John Rivera talks about Spain investing and in Natchez it was the Dominica Republic. The towns change and the names of the big investors change but the game is the same(FRAUD). Some of the local investors need to comment on the way the operation took their money. If everyone of the investors got together and complained loud enough maybe something could be done before he continues to deceive and get rich.

I would like to know how this city, state and country would operate without the citizens having to pay tax. The library renewal tax is needed so everyone can have the opportunity to have access to books . Everyone does not own a computer to Google what they need to know. I for one am glad to do my part to bring knowledge to everyone.

dynahog, I have a couple of questions. If fuel can be produced in Baytown Texas, then why not Natchez Mississippi? The operation was setup at the port, why move it to Baytown? Why change the name of the operation? There were four reactors being set up in Natchez just like in Baytown. Read the Baytown Sun and see all the same things being said by John Riviera and tell me this is not a scam!

Lookingout, there has not been an increase in rates so you and your neighbor should go to city hall and get the ladies to compare your consumption to the same time last year. Dovechaser, please read the article again. The Mayor said he is looking into other sources so they don't have to be raised.

Sarge, If you would read the article again you would see the ? mark. The Mayor as I see it said he would look into all sources so they would not be raised. Every ones electricity will be higher because they will be using more because of the heat. I would also like to ask Lookingout how can you see an increase in your bill when the price is still the same. Did you forget to turn off lights and AC when you left?

Kevin, you hit the nail on the head with your article. A lot of people do not realize what energy and vision it takes to make things happen. Sometimes projects pan out and sometimes not but you never know till you try. Going to the moon wasn't an easy thing but it did happen. You have to give projects time and work to reach your goal. It is easy for some to sit back and complain and do nothing to help.

Fatherof4, The new lease money did not come about until recently. If the tax had been voted on and passed the lease money would go to other projects, which there are many. You might can predict the future to see what money will be coming in but the mayor and city council can't. Please tell me all the untruths that you know about, and tell me how many meetings have you attended. How many times have you talked to the mayor or aldermen about any problems you are having? How many times have you tried to make a difference by giving your suggestions to the board members? If you can't try an help don't complain about things you know nothing about. Ask and I'm sure you will be told the truth. Don't you think it would be unwise for the mayor and board to say things that are not true, it would surely not be in their interest to do so. Go talk to the mayor about the lease and I'm sure he would be glad to show you all the details.

Him2Her, you need to read your post again. You implied the employees were a-kissers and did not know how to do their jobs. It was, who they knew, not what they knew. The mayor hires and fires so you had to be talking about him hiring all the do nothings and a-kissers. why not just ask if the Staggs are related to the mayor instead of such a hostile post. Has someone rubbed you the wrong way? What is wrong with defending someone who has a hard job and from my observation doing it well. Why is it I'm on a soapbox and you are not? To The Duke, with the help of others the Mayor has made Vidalia a better place to live. Danny,s lounge is a problem but the Mayor and Board members are trying to work with the owner to make it a safer place. The owner has to work to change things for the better are he probably will have to close.
