People,
On a useless note, I'm sure that the equipment that would be put to use is still in working order. Unless it gets submerged or burnt, that kind of equipment has an indefinate shelf life.
To make an educated guess here,
Rentech makes alternative fuels. That WAS a booming industry when gas skyrocketed to $4/gal and oil was $150/barrel. Now that gas is below $2 there is really not a very good return on investment in alternatives fuels. Nobody wants to pay $2.50/gal for alternative fuel while petroleum gas is $2/gal.
I am certainly not begging for gas to go back up but I can promise you Rentech will not get in any hurry to complete this plant while gas and oil are so low. It is just not in their best interest financially.
I have no doubt that there is some shady dealing going on amongst the county leadership. Typical to any county, any state, past or present. It sucks but it's true.
Also, I'm sure such hostility towards any industry even entertaining the idea of coming to Natchez will yield excellent results. Keep at it and wait for the change you seek.

Good job student!
As far as proof readers for the Democrat. I already mentioned that in a comment and was berated by individuals telling me that i was too anal retentive, needed to read Freud, and that everybody misspells words. I have long given up on that path of trying to help the Democrat correct its spelling issues.
Hopefully good students like this will help bring us back to some level of intelligence.

Sorry I didn't realize that ignorance and blatant carelessness had become so accepted. NtzMom, I am not trying to lambast or "pick on" the N.D. as you say, I am simply trying to help them improve their reputation and writing. I can certainly deal with it
I guess I better be talkin' like dis and pikin' up da "da-gum" trash and join da reel idiot team.
Does that look better to you all?
P.S. Freud is psychology, not grammar.
This is not an attack on the paper. I just would like to see them do better for their sake and the sake of Natchez. I am certainly concerned about the damage to Natchez and I appreciate that the Democrat's article. Get over yourselves.

Bone, maybe you should take note from my comment as well. It is unacceptable, with current spell-check programs, for a publication such as this to have that many errors in one article. This is certainly not their first mistake. I am not saying that I do not make mistakes, nor do I expect them to make no mistakes. However, it is unacceptable in my field, as an engineer, to make typos on the final draft of a document. It damages your reputation just as it does to the reputation of the ND. !!!!!!!!okay

Come on Natchez Democrat!! I found 2 typographical errors in just scanning through this document! I know that's probably not important but it certainly does not do much for the reputation of Natchez or the state.

I am not an animal activist and I'm not encouraging cock fights, but I can promise you those chickens used for fights have a much more humane life than those that are used for food purposes. At least they have a chance to live. They are fed well, kept in their own are in a climate controlled environment. From birth, with no "special training" these birds will fight to the death if they are not kept separate.
If you ever went into a chicken house at a poultry farm you might realize that having to fight to the death is a far better sentence than spending your entire life cycle walking in waste and other dead chickens.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't eat chicken. I eat it all the time and I love it. But somewhere there seems to be a disconnect between "Oh those poor birds used for fighting, how inhumane" and "Man this is a good chicken sandwich".

I agree gemccull.
I certainly know that comments to an online article do not influence business decisions. I just can't understand why so many people express such negative sentiments toward Rentech. It is probably an indicator of a much more wide spread mind set.
I certainly hope Rentech will bring the Natchez facility to fruition but I understand that they must do what is in the best interest of their business.
That is the point I was trying to make. I'm just a little more sarcastic than you (I'm not saying that that is a quality of mine). These people need to understand that a busines does not exist to employ people or revive struggling city economies. It exists to MAKE MONEY. I feel like many in Natchez have vilified Rentech.
On EDA brought Rentech to county
