There was so much interest shown recently for David Carter and his horse Silverado. Maybe the Humane Society could talk to Mr Carter about giving an exposition as a way to raise money for the shelter. I would love to see in action some of the performances that led to Silvarado's 4th place win in Fort Worth. I will donate regardless, but I thought I would make the suggestion.

Purplehaze, I understand your dilemma. I do not have a party affiliation but had intended to vote for Hilary Clinton. I now find myself without a candidate that I can support wholeheartedly. The best that you can do is what you are doing---listen to the candidates themselves. I don't mean what they say about each other but what actually comes out of their own mouths of what they themselves state are their policies. Someone else's interpretation of "facts" is not enough to make them right and you wrong if you hear it for yourself. People draw their own conclusions that fit with their ideologue. Case in point: I am not a republican as earlier assumed on this forum. If Hilary was in this race, she would still be my choice, but I have to move on. I hope that by election day we will both be at peace with our choices.

Yeahuhuh, someone commented on how intelligent you are on this forum. I don't see you that way. You twist what anyone who disagrees with you says. You name call, refer to people as stupid, and call everyone liars if their opinion differs from yours. This shows such a lack of maturity on your part that you have to resort to being the bully of the playground in order to try to belittle others. The truly smart person can present their view without using childish tactics. I have no interest in pursuing any further comments with you even though I am sure you will try to bait me. So as you sit with your fingers posed above your keyboard ready to spit and spew a reply, know that your opinion is not anymore important than mine and neither is your vote. We each have one vote and I find great comfort in the fact that we are both free to cast it for the candidate of our choice.

southernwoman, Sarah Palin is not a candidate for president of the United States. Obama is and the thought that he says he would send troops across Pakistan's borders to pursue terrorists sends chills down my spine. On one hand he is promising people an end to the war by bringing our troops home regardless of the outcome. On the other he said in the debate that there were 3 times as many troops in Iraq as there are in Afganistan and he thinks the forces should be increased there. Is he bringing them home or sending them to Afganistan? Or perhaps Pakistan? Both parties are guilty of telling the people what they want to hear whether they can deliver or not. I wish it were possible to charge politicians who don't at least try to keep their campaign promises with fraud!

Race is most definitely a factor in this election! The media can not bring up Obama's name without referring to him as "the first black candidate for president of the United States!" Historically, his race is important. The color of his skin will determine to a certain extent who the next president is. There will be those who will vote for him for no other reason than he is black, just as there will be those who could never vote for a black man. I personally think that the number of votes cast this way will be enough to determine the outcome of the election.

I agree! I guess it is just small town living but, " Who's your Momma and Daddy?" is still an important part of identifying someone. It often brings back long ago memories of a child who has done well for themselves in adulthood. Besides, why shouldn't the parents shine in a little reflected glory?

This is ironic. The city of Vidalia does not allow the sale of alcoholic beverages at festivals within the city limits. Now the city of Vidalia Chamber of Commerce wants to use a loophole to sell alcohol at a city of Vidalia festival within the city limits. That's funny! What about the intent of the law?

Where would one find the breakdown for the recreation dept.'s budget? I'd like to know what portion of the budget is spent on the public golf course at Duncan Park. I remember when taxpayers were told an 18 hole course would not only be self sufficient but make money. This money would be used to support the recreation program for youths and others. What happened? There seems to be quite a bit of difference between the fees charged golfers at Duncan Park and what is charged at Beau Pre. Why can't they pay more? If the program can make the course available to such a select few who aren't even all taxpayers why can't they pony up more for their hobby? I have to pay for the leisure things that interest me and they are not tax subsidized. Why did the privately owned golf course out at Fenwick fail? Was playing at Duncan Park cheaper? Anyhow, just wondering what portion of the budget is golf. Anybody know?

Why would anyone title this article "Weather monitoring equipment damaged at Natchez-Adams Airport" and then quote Mr. Pomeroy as "There is no damage to it at all, he said of the machine. We are just waiting on commercial power." ?

That Caterpillar comment is absolutely true even though after all this time it is like a dirty little secret! If you find that fact interesting, then maybe you should check the names of property owners involved in this deal of the new road and land buyout, not that I am suggesting there are any dirty little secrets there. After all, this is Adams county and we know everyone plays by the rules here. Or do they?
