The keys to prosperity

I am convinced that there is no better indication of success than education.
Think of any university town in the country and you will also be thinking of a town that is growing and prosperous. Surely there is one town that has a university that is not doing well, but I can't think of one.
Hattiesburg (USM) is growing by leaps and bounds. Oxford (Ole MIss) is a model town that is attracting people from all walks of life. Even Starkville (MSU) is growing. And we already know about Baton Rouge and LSU.
That is why I think it is important that Adams County commit to Co-Lin and Alcorn State (especially Alcorn which could have an enormous impact on our area if we wanted it.) The county's commitment to Col-Lin Monday was a first step.
The greater the commitment, the greater the chances of progress, in my opinion.
It may not happen overnight, but if other towns are any indication, it will happen.
What do you think?

Ben, other surrounding counties should be contributing to Co-Lin. All of the southwestern counties or at least the extreme southwestern counties of Mississippi should be making a contribution to Co-Lin Natchez. Yes, I know there is some overlap with the Wesson campus.
I think there is a caveat that if the counties do not contribute then the students pick up the tab.
You neglected to say what the contributions of various counties/cities are to their universities.
No doubt... but let's reform the awful income tax system too... learn about the Fair Tqx.
THE FAIR TAX: WHY DO SO MANY PUNDITS GET IT WRONG?
In the year 2007 it is quite apparent that many national commentators (pundits) of both parties failed to do their research, failed to read the FT book, failed to go beyond what others have written, failed to visit the 2 FT websites, failed to contact Neal Boortz for an answer and thus failed to do the job. The FT is the most researched tax proposal in history but they get it wrong, they are doing damage to truth. Why is that?
I just believe that we should do everything we can to make our two colleges amaing.
As Ben said, just at look at the growth rate of college towns.
With great schools, a great work force tags along.
ll the college kids want to work their through. So our restaurants ect...would not be so starved for good help.
We should do everything we can for Co-Lin simply because that is where the majority of our public school grads go, for whatever reason, finances, gpa, having to raise own kids, etc...I think the state needs to build a CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL on the front of Alcorn and Co-Lin for students who want to take advanced courses and receive dual credit. The students who truly want to challenge themselves and start in high school that is.
