Oh I wish I were in Dixville
Published Tuesday, January 8, 2008
Ever since I was able to vote, I really felt I had little voice as to who I wanted to run for president. And that's because I have always lived in a state that has little to say whether Mitt Romney or Rudy Giuliani or Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton are going to run for president.
Instead every four years, I sit back in my lazy chair and see who the tiny states of New Hampshire and Iowa decide who I will vote for.
Seventeen people in Dixville Notch New Hampshire have the spotlight each four years. They are the first ballot box to be opened in the state's primary. And even though they are a small percentage of votes the national cameras have descended upon them like they were prophets.
One out of every five New Hampshire adults will have shaken hands with at least one candidate for president. The people in that small state will decide which Republican or Democrat I will vote for in November. I only get to sit back and let others decide for me.
Oh well, at least its warm down here.

You can always do a write-in!
Ben you might have the right to vote but you miss the mark. There is a lot more to happen before the choice is narrowed down to just 2. Sure wish the Democrat would do a vote and see where this area stands. Me I'm an Edwards man.
I just wish I was a part of it. My bet is that the two candidates will have been decided (by the national media mostly) by the time I cast my ballot in the Mississippi Primary in March.
You are 100% correct, Ben. The media as well as the electoral votes are the ones that tell US (U.S. regular citizens) who we have a choice to vote on. Why can't we all go out and vote on the top 2 candidates?
I agree..and would you make sure that everyone on here knows obamas Full NAME?
W were told that bin Laden would attack us again, from someone on the inside...
wonder if that person he meant could be
Senator Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, Jr.
Vote for him? With that name? I don't think so.
I am for Hillary. But if it's Obama, I will vote Republican for the first time ever in my life
People should be aware of Obama...I have seens a picture of him and some others when the Pledge of Alligence was being done...He would not face the flag nor would he put his hand over his heart...IF HE DOSEN'T LOVE THE USA ENOUGH TO HORNOR OUR FLAG....How can he even be considered as a choise for President????????
Thank you sandyman...This guy won Iowa, this really frightens me.
I try hard not to vote for the party but the person. I KNOW this year that person will NOT be a Democrat. Just not sure who else, but I'm leaning toward Huckabee. Obama scares a lot of people, but I am afraid some will vote for the color, like some will vote for Hillary because she is a woman.
"All it takes for evil to proper is for good people to
do nothing" ... if we do not exercise our right to vote
responsibly ... we are the only ones to blame.
Here's that old begger again. Please people learn how and who to vote for. Study, study, and study some more the list of candidate's before you push that button. I have great fear for America if the wrong one is put in office. RE-read the above comments and along with Obama add Hilary to the list. Pay attention to the respect they have for each other. I don't think either is lying about the other. Just their quarreling alone should prompt you to put your vote elsewhere. Neither is fit for the job and you would find that out if you listen closely. Please pay close attention to both pros and cons of each candidate. Study long, hard and diligently. You can find out a lot on the Internet. Take advantage of it. Our fore fathers did not have this tool but they did pretty well with their selections. Remember Ole Abe was a very poor man when he ran for the seat yet he went down in history as one of the greatest.
If you vote for Obama. You will press one for Muslim, two for Spanish, three for Hispanic, four for Mexican, five for non-human recordings, and six for English unless they do away with our language.
