Don’t be sad it was just a building… the best thing about The First Baptist Church were the people that worshiped there.
The community leaders, the hard working folks of our generation that set an example for use to grow in the face God.
The building is a memory, but people are the treasures.

    Hello,
New to boards and am not a current Natchez resident, but I have wondered for sometime about the old FBC. I don’t have the background information citing reasons why the congregation moved away from the building. Located prominently in the downtown part of Natchez, this mammoth, lovely building was abandoned, presumably so members would have a newer, more accessible location, which is understandable.
Does anyone remember what the church's board, minister, or member’s expectations were for this property’s future, at that time? Thank you.

I wish I could have gotten some of the clay roofing to put on my house.

    Arlington???

Are you retarded? Arlington is a magnificent piece of history. That's why thank GOD its a National Historical Landmark to protect it from DUMB ASS DROPOUTS like you. Who have no clue of history because you never learned it.

Might I suggest going and buying a book (you know that thing that has pages with words on them) about Natchez and read the significant history of the house before you say things like that!

Why are they destructing this building? Probably to build something stupid that we don't need. Like another hotel, condo's, or something ignorant of that sort...
