As the Father of Waters continues its journey to the gulf, Bonnie Hunt calmly sits under the shade of a tree living her life’s dream.
Hunt and her husband Ron travel along the Mississippi River meeting the riverboats at their destinations. Hunt is a photographer, and her husband an artist.
&uot;We just love the river,&uot; Bonnie Hunt said. &uot;There is so much history with the river. I always get excited when I see the riverboats coming around the bend of the river.&uot;
The Hunts are from Lake City, Minn., and usually spend their summers meeting the boats up north. In the fall, they travel south to sell their work to tourists. Until the end of November, the Hunts will call Natchez Under-the-Hill home.
&uot;I love to travel and feel at home in all places,&uot; Hunt said. &uot;The artwork sells good, and we become ambassadors for the town we happen to be in. We are usually the first people the travelers see when the leave the boat.&uot;
Hunt, a retired librarian, has enjoyed this year’s trip. &uot;This is one we have been able to travel together,&uot; she said.
In December, the Hunts plan to travel to Mexico and eventually Cuba.
&uot;We want to see and document Cuba before it changes,&uot; she said. &uot;Once Castro leaves, Cuba will change drastically.&uot;
Hunt has yet to travel on one of the riverboats but thinks it would be the ultimate trip.
&uot;My main problem is that I can’t decide which one to go on,&uot; she said.
