A group of retirees from Arkansas saw Natchez in their own style over the weekend.

&uot;(We) followed the tour van because we though it would be a cheap way,&uot; said Bob North.

Fellow retiree, Joyce Adams enjoyed this joke with friend Lou North.

&uot;I told her we had to follow the tour bus because we were on a fixed income,&uot; she said.

The Democrat’s Dart found Bob and Lou, North, Jay and Joyce Adams and Charlie and Nancy Cramm were enjoying the evening outside their motor homes.

They spent the weekend at Plantation Park, on Frederick Road, south of Natchez. They seemed to enjoy their stop in southwest Mississippi.

&uot; They’ve got some beautiful homes here,&uot; Jay Adams said.

The group is from Bella Vista, Arkansas and arrived in Natchez Friday night. They will leave Monday morning and eventually arrive in Ft. Myers, Fla.

While in Natchez, they visited Longwood, ate at the Sandbar Restaurant and drove through downtown.

&uot;I had been though Natchez/Vicksburg before but (my friends) never had,&uot; Lou North said.

A lot has changed in 30 years, she said.

&uot;I guess we didn’t expect to see things in bloom here,&uot; Bob North said.

The group have been traveling caravan style in their motor homes but they keep in contact over their citizens band or CB radios. Each has their own radio handle.

&uot;I’m Excedrin because I always have a headache,&uot; Joyce Adams said with a laugh.

Lou North said the motor homes are a great way to travel.

&uot;We did a lot of traveling with my husband when he was working and it was always by airplane,&uot; she said.

Now their traveling is not so rushed, she said.

The group is able to fix their own meals and can sleep in the same bed every night.

&uot; You just pack you clothes in and you don’t have to unpack anything,&uot; Lou added.
