It was a festive night at Adams County Christian School Friday. The seniors were honored and the gym was named after longtime coach Robert &uot;Bob&uot; Ulmer.
ACCS senior Laurie Davis certainly didn’t want any bad memories on this night, so she went out and scored 25 points in leading the Lady Rebels to a 63-49 win over Parklane.
&uot;I wanted to leave something here,&uot; said Davis, who seemed to be all over the floor for the Lady Rebels. &uot;We’ve been working hard together. We wanted a good effort.&uot;
AC’s boys gave a good effort as well, outscoring Parklane 22-9 in the fourth quarter, only to come up on the short end of a 60-54 score.
Parklane stayed within range trailing the Lady Rebels 34-29 at halftime. But AC controlled the boards in the second half and outscored the Lady Pioneers 29-20.
&uot;I thought our rebounding was a key,&uot; said ACCS&160;head coach Bruce Pickle. &uot;We got some good help off the bench.&uot;
The contest was tied a 15-15 after one period of play and was tied 24-24 with 3:15 remaining in the second period.
Bethany Gamberi netted a 3-point shot to put AC up 27-24.
Leading 27-26, Davis came down court and nailed two straight 3-pointers enabling the Lady Rebels to take a 34-29 halftime advantage.
&uot;I’ve been working on them extra in the gym,&uot; Davis said. &uot;I wasn’t putting enough arch on them.&uot;
AC went on a 9-2 spurt in the third quarter as Katie Anders hit a 3-pointer and hit two free throws, Amanda Walker scored a basket and Davis put in a short jumper.
AC led 48-38 after three quarters.
The Lady Rebels outscored the Lady Pioneers 15-11 in the final quarter.
Gamberi added 12 points for the Lady Rebels, while Rebecca Rabb chipped in eight.
Parklane, 14-14, was led by Tina Savorgnan with 15 points.
ACCS&160;finishes the regular season at 20-10 overall and 6-4 in MPSA&160;South AAAA.
The Lady Rebels will face Hillcrest at Hillcrest in the district tournament next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
&uot;We needed this type of game to get our minds right,&uot; Pickle said. &uot;If we continue playing together we’ll be O.K. I’m proud with all the festivities the girls were focused on the game.&uot;
In the boys contest, the Pioneers jumped ahead 17-7 after one period of play and 32-16 at halftime.
Parklane led 45-28 after three quarter before the Rebels mounted a comeback in the final period.
AC, which finishes the regular season at 6-15 and will play Jackson Prep Tuesday in Hillcrest, was led by Ty Smith with 17 points.
Hayden Wadsworth added 16 points for the Rebels.
Parklane, 14-7, was led by Jeremy Freeman with 18 points, while Jeremy Alford added 12.
