Chamber seeking golfers

Ross Partridge is looking for a few good golfers. And even a few not-so-good.
The 7th annual Natchez Chamber of Commerce 4-person Golf Scramble is scheduled for March 23 at Beau Pre Country Club and Partridge said just over 40 people have signed up.
&uot;We need 92 players,&uot; he said. &uot;We urge all goffers to got their team together and sign up quickly. Right now it appears that we have some team play that is developing into a serious competitive event between various companies.&uot;
Partridge said currently there are only 10 hole sponsors.
&uot;The chamber urges our area members and merchants to consider being a $200 hole sponsor to promote their company on the golf course,&uot; he said. &uot;Eight more hole sponsors and two more award sponsors are needed for the tournament.&uot;
The format is a 4-person scramble and is open to everyone.
&uot;As in the past, there are challenges on each hole, which makes the tournament an unusual and fun golf outing,&uot; Partridge said. The ‘8-ball’ hole has three flags to keep the golfer guessing, one hole has no flag making it a real challenge to hit to the green. Another hole has all of the putting green cups for an easy birdie – the team putts to the closest cup.
&uot;Then, of course, there is the ever renown ‘commode hole’with new rules established for hitting while sitting on the commode. Another challenge is the use of a &uot;T-ball tee and a baseball bat! There may even be a senior citizen skill award.&uot;
The tournament includes awards for both men and ladies such as long drives and long putts.
&uot;This is the Natchez Chamber of Commerce’s only annual fund raising event and everyone is expected to have a very good time,&uot; Partridge said. &uot;Every player is a winner and is awarded a prize&uot;
The golf tournament is followed by business after hours.
