International Paper’s Natchez Mill has reached an agreement with its seven union locals, a mill official announced Friday.

The agreement will run until Feb. 28, 2006, according to a statement from Communications Director Lillie DeShields.

The agreement included more overtime for workers, a two-week pay period and a pay scale that is the same as that of IP’s other mills, according to a source close to the unions who did not wish to be named.

Presidents of IP’s union locals either could not be reached for comment late Friday afternoon or would not comment.

Unions at the mill include three locals of the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union; two of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; and one each of the International Association of Machinists and the International Union of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry.

Neither DeShields nor Luther Dangerfield, the mill’s human resources manager, would answer any further questions. &uot; The statement is what it is,&uot; DeShields said.

The mill, which currently employs 750, is the largest employer in the area.
