The life of an Adams County resident, who nearly died after allegedly stealing a car this weekend, was ironically saved by the owner of the stolen 1996 Chrysler.
Christopher T. Lee, 21, 17 Pinemount Road, was arrested Saturday and charged with DUI and grand larceny of a vehicle after fleeing the scene of the Starlight Lounge in Pinemount.
&uot;He was just drunk; he wanted a car and took off,&uot;&160;said Adams County Sheriff Tommy Ferrell.
At around 11:42 p.m. Friday Lee drove off in the Chrysler while its owner was unloading some band items from it.
Just down the road from the lounge Lee ran the vehicle into a tree causing it to burst into flames, Ferrell said.
The victim and some friends who where chasing the Lee arrived at the scene after pursuing the suspect.
After the car caught on fire, they pulled Lee out and kept him from getting away until deputies arrived, Ferrell said.
