After a busy day at Natchez High School ninth-grader Jay Robinson looks forward to retreating to his quiet residence on Old Country Club&160;Road.
&uot;It’s a quiet area (and) I can go hunting in the backyard,&uot; Robinson said about his neighborhood.
The Democrat’s Dart found Robinson, Saturday afternoon mowing the grass in front of the house he shares with his parents Mr. and Mrs. James T. Robinson Jr.
The family moved to Old Country Club Road from Lagrange Subdivision in the late 1980s so they could enjoy the quiet of country life while still have the benefits of being near the city.
Their house is nestled between the location of the county’s old airstrip and the site of the Old Country Club.
Dormant kudzu vines stretch for acres opposite the family’s house.
Their big front yard is a great place to spent time with their dogs, Jay added.
Jay Robinson is an honor student at Natchez High School and a member of the school’s Beta Club and its new Peer Mediation Club.
Peer Mediation is a violence prevention club the school is developing.
Robinson seems to have made a good adjustment to high school.
&uot;I think it’s a great school,&uot; he said.
The ninth-graders have their own principal and are kept separate from the upperclassman, he said. And every so often they have a &uot;Tech Prep&uot; Wednesday to learn about different careers.
Surprisingly for someone as young as 14-year-old Robinson, he already has an idea in mind for his future.
He is considering a career in radiology.
&uot;It just looks easy to read the X-rays,&uot; he said. &uot;And it looks like it would be a fun job to do.&uot;
During a recent job-shadowing program, Robinson shadowed a radiologist at Natchez Regional Medical Center.
