Silliman’s boys and girls teams took home top honors, but Trinity Episcopal’s boys squad finished an impressive second at the Adams County Christian School Powerade Relays Thursday at ACCS.

&uot;We were second to a real good Silliman team that hands down should win the (3A) state championship,&uot; said Trinity coach David King. &uot;I was really pleased with our boys and think we have a really good chance of winning district and South State. We just need to keep working hard and practicing.&uot;

Silliman’s boys finished with 154 points. Trinity was second with 95, Tensas placed third at 72, Huntington was fourth with 70 while ACCS came in at 59. CHA tallied 49, WCCA&160;finished with 43, while Central Hinds, Briarfield, Union and Rebul rounded out the field.

&uot;I thought we could have done better in varsity boys,&uot; said AC&160;coach Bob Garrett.

The meet was held on one of the warmer days of the year.

&uot;That hurt us later,&uot; King said. &uot;We weren’t ready for that.

&uot;A lot of the kids said the sun drained them,&uot; Garrett said.

In varsity boys action, Trinity’s Kris Thomas won the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 6 inches .

Cody Turnage of Huntington won the 100-hurdles with a time of 18.27.

In the 100-dash, Scott Maggio of Trinity came across the line first at 12.4.

Trinity’s Chad Ridley won the 200-dash at 24.9.

Thomson, Bobby Craig, Maggio and Ridley won the 800-relays at 1:38.3.

Craig, Thomson, Maggio and Ridley teamed up to win the 400-relays at 47.2.

In girls action, Silliman totaled 144 points, while Huntington was second with 70. Placing third was ACCS with 51 points.

ACCS’ Bethany Gamberi won the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 4 1/2 inches.

Rachal Anders of Huntington was first in the 400-meter dash at 1:05.86.

Huntington’s Tessa Taunton was first in the 200 with a time of 29.36.

ACCS’ junior high girls came out on top in the meet with 133 points. WCCA&160;was second with 112, Silliman posted 77 and Huntington came in at 39. CHA, Briarfield, Tensas and Central Hinds rounded out the field.

Tiffany Collier of ACCS&160;won the long jump (14 feet, 7 1/2 inches); 200-dash in 28.29 and 100-hurdles in 18.58.

Kim Robertson of AC won the 800-run in 2:46.43.

Amy Mardis was first in the 400-dash at 1:05.70 and the 100-dash in 14.28.

Candace Duplechin of ACCS&160;won the discus with a throw of 78 feet, 10 1/2 inches.

The ACCS&160;relay team of Mardis, Kim Robertson, Alicia Brown and Collier won the 1600-relays at 4:41.53.

Mardis, Anna McLemore, Kim Calvitt and Collier won the 400-relays in 1:01.82.

Mardis, McLemore, Kim Calvitt and Collier were first in the 800-relays at 2:04.93.

Silliman’s junior high boys came out on top with 136 points. ACCS&160;was second at 112, Trinity tallied 96 and WCCA had 48. Rounding out the field were Union, Briarfiel, CHA 28, Huntington and Tensas.

In junior varsity boys, Trinity’s relay team of Greg Ketchings, Ivan Nastally, Ryan Rachal and Walt Ketchings was first at 1:42.63.

Greg Ketchings won the long jump at 17 feet, 3 3/4 inches.

Adam Pate of AC&160;won the shot put at 45 feet, 7 1/4 inches.

AC’s&160;Will Hinson was tops in the pole vault at 9 feet, 6 inches.

AC’s Luke Ogden won the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches. Eric Anders of AC was second at the same height.

&uot;It was a great meet,&uot; Garrett said. &uot;I can’t say enough about the people who pitched in and helped. And a lot of thanks to Coke for sponsoring the meet and buying the T-shirts.&uot;
