Trinity High and Plain Dealing were expected to complete their playoff series today, but a Mississippi Private School Association ruling on the exact dates for the games to be played has the contest set for Friday at Plain Dealing.

Trinity won the first game of the Class A best of three series 9-6 Tuesday at home.

Game 2 will be played at Plain Dealing Friday at 1:30 p.m.

If the Bulldogs win that game, a second and deciding game will follow.

The winner of the series will meet the Mount Olive-Franklin series winner at South State.

Mount Olive won the first game in eight innings Tuesday.

Trinity coach David King said the key Friday will be getting a quick jump on the Bulldogs.

Hunter Dale will start the first game Friday. Dale is 7-1 with a 1.49 earned run average.

Dale is also hitting .419.

&uot;Hunter is having a great year,&uot; King said.

Southpaw Elliot Meng is scheduled to pitch the second game.

Both pitchers are well rested after William McGehee was able to pitch a complete game Tuesday.

&uot;Kids in this league don’t see many left-handers, and Elliott has been very effective,&uot; King said.

Plain Dealing, 16-5, won its district, while Trinity, 16-7, finished second to Franklin in District 6A.

&uot;Plain Dealing has a real small park and a couple of big hitters who we were able pitch around here,&uot;&160;King said. &uot;The main thing we need to do is keep the ball in play and make the routine plays.&uot;

King said the pressure is on Plain Dealing.

&uot;This is only the third time Trinity has had a team in the playoffs, but most of these kids went through it last year,&uot; said King, whose team lost to Plain Dealing in the first round last year.

&uot;We just have to get after them from the start,&uot; King said. &uot;We’ve been having some big early innings, but have kind of been stymied after that. We just need to string together a bunch of good at-bats in a row.&uot;
