Volunteers’ role important to Chamber, community
Times are changing and out time is becoming more valuable every day. Where
people once had time to participate in volunteer activities, that time seems
to now be occupied by other personal responsibilities.
Many volunteers were once a source of all expertise, now we tend to have our
specific area of specialty. And where social functions and community betterment
were important to all, a desire for a return on your investment has come to
take precedence.
This changing of the times applies to many, and finding strong volunteers has
become increasingly difficult. Which is why it is important that we all recognize
those who so generously devote their time to volunteer activities in our community.
The Chamber of Commerce has six committees and a Board of Directors, all of
which work to serve the community of Fergus Falls. With slightly over 70 volunteers,
the Chamber has a strong base for activity. Each of our volunteers takes time
out of their schedule, approximately once a month, to contribute and execute
ideas. Without the help of these generous individuals, the Chamber would not
be able to work on the projects we do.
We would like to say thank you to all of those who contribute their time and
energy to the Chamber of Commerce. We would also like to extend an invitation
to others in the community who would enjoy giving back to Fergus Falls. The
Chamber is only one organization among many that would enjoy your input and
involvement. If you have a desire to work with the business community, children,
service organizations, festivals and events, or any other key component of Fergus
Falls, please don’t be shy. Your involvement would be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers are key to the success of a community. Thank you to everyone who
so generously devotes your time to the betterment of Fergus Falls. Your activity
does make a difference!
