Chamberlain-Hunt Academy, Tensas Academy and Hillcrest Academy will join Adams County Christian School is a controlled football scrimmage at ACCS Friday.
Bowling Green was expected to participate, but pulled out Wednesday.
The scrimmage will start at 5:30 p.m. with AC facing Hillcrest.
&uot;Each scrimmage will consist of about 12 plays with a little break in-between,&uot; said ACCS&160;head coach Bo Swilley.
AC will also face CHA and Tensas, with the final game set for about 8 p.m.
Swilley started spring football drills last Monday. He and his assistant coaches have been without several players who are on the ACCS&160;baseball team, which is competing in the MPSA AAAA state semifinals.
&uot;We’ve had a good spring and we’re making some progress,&uot;&160;Swilley said. &uot;We’re short on time and we’ve had to move people around to positions they normally don’t play. We’ve got some good work out of our freshmen. Eric Anders is getting a lot of reps at quarterback, which is good for him. That’s going to make us stronger.&uot;
Returning quarterback Ty Smith is a member of the AC&160;baseball team.
&uot;It’s great what the baseball team is doing, and we’re real proud of them,&uot;&160;Swilley said. &uot;And it’s allowing us to work with kids who may not get as many reps during the summer.&uot;
AC, which finished 3-7 last year, will begin summer practice for 2000 season on July 26.
ACCS is moving from District 2-AAAA into an AAA division with Centreville, Central Private and Silliman next year.
The Rebels open their season Aug. 18 at home against.Simpson Academy before going to Parklane in McComb the following Friday.
&uot;That’s just too early,&uot; Swilley said. &uot;The heat worries me already.
Coming Friday: Natchez High School will hold a controlled scrimmage at Wilkinson County High on Friday.
