&uot;It feels great,&uot; Smoot said about being the hero of the game. &uot;At first I was nervous. I missed the first pitch and I remembered coach (Gus Perry) saying that the next pitch you hit it out and the second one I hit.&uot;

&uot;Desmond’s been hitting the ball well and has been pretty consistent,&uot; Perry said.

Seven of Sports Center’s 11 runs occurred on walks, including five in the fifth inning which tied the game at 10.

Eight Blain pitchers combined for a four-hitter, but also walked a combined 15 batters.

&uot;A lot of walks got us back in it,&uot; Perry said. &uot;I never figured we would win on five walks.

Blain scored one run in the top of the first inning when Brock Vines walked and later scored on a wild pitch.

Sports Center (2-0) then took its first lead with two runs in the bottom of the first as Daniel Brown and Eric Perry each scored on walks.

Blain retook the lead with two runs of its own in the top of the second.

With two outs, Brian Johnson walked and later scored on a wild pitch. Jeremy Taylor walked and later scored when he stole home plate.

Blain then looked like it put the game away by scoring five runs in the top of the third.

Jeff Holley scored on a Brock Vines single. Then with the bases loaded, Forrest White tripled to bring in Taylor Brantley, Tony Godbold and Vines. White scored on a Mattie Smith fielder’s choice.

White finished 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs.

Sports Center then scored two runs in the bottom of the third as Perry scored on a Smoot fielder’s choice and Michael Chatman scored when David Ozburn grounded out to first.

Johnson then scored for Blain on a Taylor single in the top of the fourth and Godbold scored on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth for a 10-4 lead.

But Sports Center tied the game with six runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Ozburn, who came in as a relief pitcher in the third inning, pitched a scoreless sixth inning to give his team a chance to win the game in the bottom of the inning.

Ozburn allowed seven runs on eight hits, struck out four and walked six in four innings for the win.

&uot;David Ozburn did a great job,&uot; Perry said. &uot;I feel like we’ve got a good group of kids who can go a long way.&uot;

Maier walked and Brown singled, but Maier was tagged at third for the first out.

Brown advanced to second on a wild pitch and third on a fielder’s choice by Perry.

After Chatman walked, Smoot hit the game-winner to right field.
