Co-Lin still alive at World Series

MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Copiah-Lincoln Community College took on Jefferson Davis Community College in a loser’s bracket game on Sunday, and defeated them by the score of 7-4, thus eliminating Jefferson Davis from further play at the NJCAA Division II World Series.
Co-Lin jumped on them early with two runs in the first inning, and three runs in the third inning.
Edison Lee singled to begin the game for the Wolves of Co-Lin.
Nook Logan of Natchez moved Lee over to second base with a groundout to the shortstop.
Lee would then come around to score on an error by the shortstop.
Daniel Mouton, who reached base on the error, would score easily on a single by Lance Newman to left field, which made the score 2-0 after only one inning of play.
Logan would get the rally started for Co-Lin in the third inning, with a hard single to left centerfield.
He would eventually come around to score on a double to left by Dunn, which made the score 3-0.
Dunn and Mouton would also score in the inning on a Josh McNulty single to right field for the Wolves.
Adam Different and Britt Hederman had RBI base hits for the Co-Lin Wolfpack in the fifth inning.
Brandon Atkins of Natchez scored one of the two runs in the inning, pinch-running for Newman.
Brandon Long would lead off the next inning with a triple, and come around to score on a fielder’s choice.
Doug Atkins of Natchez faced the minimum over two innings of work to earn the save for Co-Lin. Logan finished the game going 3-for-5 for the Wolves.
Co-Lin will play again today at 7:30 p.m. against the loser of the Carl Albert State College vs. Lincoln Land Community College game.
