Library unveils summer reading schedule

FERRIDAY, La. — The Concordia Parish Library’s summer reading program for children who just finished kindergarten through grade 4 will be held June 12 through Aug. 4.

Programs will be held at 10:15 a.m. every other Monday at the bookmobile at Monterey School library, every Tuesday at the Vidalia library, every Thursday at the Ferriday library and every Friday at the Clayton library.

Storyteller Annie Staten at 10:15 a.m. in Ferriday and at 2 p.m. in Vidalia on June 15 and at 10:15 a.m. on June 16 in Clayton.

Magician Nathan Roberts at 10:15 a.m. in Vidalia and at 2 p.m. in Ferriday on June 27.

The Musical Harrigills at 10:15 a.m. on July 10 at the Monterey bookmobile, July 11 in Vidalia, July 13 in Ferriday and July 14 in Clayton.

Storyteller Dianne de Las Casas at 10:15 a.m. in Vidalia and 2 p.m. in Ferriday on July 25. That program will be co-sponsored by Concordia Bank.

Terri Crawford of the Louisiana State University Extension Service at 10:15 a.m. on July 18 in Vidalia, July 20 in Ferriday, July 21 in Clayton and July 24 at the Monterey bookmobile.

A summer preschool story time will be held at 5:15 p.m. every Monday and 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday at the Vidalia library and at 5:15 p.m. every Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Ferriday library. A reading program for grades 5 and up will be held at 11:15 a.m. every Tuesday in Vidalia, every Thursday in Ferriday and every Friday in Clayton from June 13 through July 21.

That program will include talks on award-winning books as well as film showings, door prizes and special guests including Crawford and Jerome Ford, manager of the wildlife management area at Bayou Cocodrie.
