Beau Pre Road residents are gulping down a drink of relief after learning Monday their water supply tested free of contamination.
Residents who have been boiling or buying their drinking water all weekend relieved a notice Monday informing them the ban on their tap water had been lifted.
Adams County Water Association advised area customers Friday not to consume their water due to a possible bacterial contamination. Of the nine samples taken by the association, all tested negative to traces of harmful bacteria.
However, in the interest of human safety, Water Association Manager Kenneth Herring said the association will continue to take samples over the next few weeks.
By law, the association is required to take monthly samples at testing sites all over the county.
Herring said the association will monitor the Beau Pre area more closely than usual over the next month.
All residents who could have been affected by the possible contamination were notified by the association on Friday.
