Wallace unbeaten with win over Ace Adams

After getting just four hits against Natchez Ace Adams in its 10-0 win in the All-Star City Championship game, Natchez Wallace pounded out 10 hits on Saturday.
&uot;We came out hitting tonight,&uot; said Wallace League head coach David New Jr. &uot;I told them today all I wanted were line drives and base hits.&uot;
Timmy Foster and Corey Walker combined to pitch a complete game and Benji Maher had a home run as the Wallace League All-Stars defeated the Ace Adams League All-Stars 13-0 Saturday in the Dixie Youth 11-12 sub-district tournament at Carroll-Jones Field.
It was the second time in eight days Foster was involved in a complete game as he pitched one against Ace Adams.
Foster, the winning pitcher, struck out five of the six batters he faced in two innings before being relieved by Walker.
&uot;It feels pretty good,&uot; Foster said about being part of two complete games. &uot;I knew coach (New) was going to pull me out at some time.&uot;
Natchez Wallace got its offense going early by scoring five runs in the top of the first inning.
Cole Bradford led off with a first-pitch double and scored on a wild pitch. David Alton New III scored on a double by Maher, who scored on an error.
Foster nearly homered, but still ended up on third on an error and scored on a single by Chris Seeger.
Seeger scored on a sacrifice fly by Stevan Ridley.
Foster then struck out the side in the bottom of the first.
Natchez Wallace then scored eight runs on five hits in the top of the second.
Bradford hit his second double to score Jeremy Ellis and Austin Weeks. New then singled in Scott Pollard and Bradford.
Maher then hit a two-run homer to center field for an 11-0 lead.
&uot;I didn’t know it was going over at first,&uot; Maher said about the homer.
Walker came in and struck out four of the six batters he faced over the next two innings.
&uot;I never thought I’d pitch one,&uot; said Walker about the complete game.
Natchez Ace Adams will play Franklin County Monday at 7 p.m.
The winner of that game plays Natchez Wallace on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Franklin County eliminated Claiborne County from the tournament with a 13-2 win.
Franklin County broke open the game with an 11-run, eight-hit second inning which included a home run by Preston Griffith which easily cleared the center field fence.
Cody Jones was the winning pitcher, striking out four and walking one in two innings.
Claiborne County’s two runs and one hit came on a two-run single by Corey Peters off reliever Ryan Hall.
