The boys and girls camp will begin July 17 and run through July 22.

In addition to the high school camps, Horton and Kettering will be co-directing an Elementary Evening Soccer Camp, which begins on July 18, and ends on July 21, and a Soccer Coaches Clinic, which starts on July 18-19.

The camps were originally set for different times, but have been combined because of a conflict with another school activity.

&uot;Our main objective is growth in the Natchez area with regards to soccer,&uot;&160;Kettering said.

&uot;Natchez High is a prime example of the popularity of competitive soccer coming to the area. Before last year, they didn’t even have a team, and now that we (Cathedral) and Franklin County have teams, and the popularity of these camps, there was no reason for Dr. Carl Davis not to instate a soccer program.&uot;

The boys and girls camps will begin at 8 a.m. and last until 2:30 p.m. each day. The elementary camp will begin at 5:45 p.m. and last until 7:15 p.m.

Registration is July 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The coaches clinic will begin at 7 p.m. and go until 8:30 p.m.

Kettering also thinks that the attitude and demeanor that Horton brings back to Natchez is creating much more interest in the game of soccer around Natchez.

&uot;Alex told me that he would very much like to come back and do it again, and the positive feedback I&160;got from the parents and players really contributed to getting Alex back this year,&uot; he said.

Kettering also said another new addition to this year’s camp, and it is that each player who participates will be given their own personal soccer ball.

&uot;Alex was amazed when he came last year, that each player didn’t have his or her own ball, so we’re going to do that this year.&uot;

Kettering one of the reasons for the new soccer ball plan is because, &uot;we want to emphasize practicing at home, as well as at the field.&uot;

&uot;No matter what happens, the main thing we’re trying to do is get more and more people involved in soccer,&uot; he said.
