Wallace debuts with win

GLOSTER — The Natchez Wallace 11-12 All-Stars picked up where they left off at the sub-district tournament in Natchez by blanking Pine Hills 9-0 Friday in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 6 Tournament.
The tournament is being played at the Pine Hills Dixie Youth Baseball Field.
Natchez Wallace cruised through the sub-district tournament at Duncan Park, outscoring its opponents 39-2.
Natchez will meet Summitt today at 8 p.m.
Summit defeated Brookhaven 2-1 in the first game. Summit won the bottom of the sixth.
Timmy Foster went the distance for Natchez, allowing two hits while striking out 12.
Natchez scored one run in the second inning as Foster singled Chris Seeger walked, Stevan Ridley collected a base hit and Wesley Davis hit into a fielder’s choice to score Seegar.
Natchez added a run in the third as Drew David doubled and scored on a single by Scott Pollard.
The Wallace All-Stars went up five runs in the fourth as David Alton New III singled and Maher followed with a base hit.
Foster doubled, Seeger walked and Ridley doubled to score Foster and Seeger.
Davis hit into a fielder’s choice for the seventh run of the game.
The Wallace All-Stars added a run in the fifth as Jeremy Ellis singled and scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Cole Bradford.
The final run came as Maher led off with a triple and scored on fielder’s choice by Foster.
Seeger and Ridley also singled in the inning.
Casey Aldridge singled for Pine Hills, while Bill Wash had a double.
The winner of today’s Summit-Natchez game will not play again until Tuesday as there will be no games on Sunday.
Brookhaven will face Pine Hills today with the winner facing the Natchez-Summit loser Monday at 7 p.m.
