Walter James Protheroe Sr.
— Sept. 6, 1924 – June 28, 2000
Walter James Protheroe Sr., 75, of Crestview, Fla., died Wednesday, June 28, 2000.
Mclaughlin-Aultman funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Protheroe was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Natchez, the son of Walter James and Lillian Protheroe.
He was a World War II veteran, serving as a radioman stationed in the Pacific Theater. He worked in the real estate field for approximately 34 years, primarily as an appraiser, receiving his senior residential appraisal designation in 1977 from the Society of Real Estate Appraisers.
Mr. Protheroe was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia.
Survivors include his sister, Lillian Provance; two daughters, Mary Jane Patschke and Donna Chase; one son, Walter J. Protheroe Jr.; one granddaughter, Stacy Guevara; one grandson, Keith Patschke; one great-granddaughter, Madison Isabelle Guevara; Jack and Ethel Harper, Fredie and Nancy Passbach, Jerry and Treeby Flamminger, Kevin Provance and family, the Hoy Family and many additional nieces and nephews; and Jerry and Pat Parker.
James Kenneth Broussard
— Jan. 22, 1944 – July 13, 2000
PHILADELPHIA – Memorial services for James Kenneth &uot;Ken&uot; Broussard, 56, of Montegut, La., who died Thursday, July 13, 2000, in Green Bay, Wis., will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Pfotenhauer Funeral Home of Green Bay, Wis., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Broussard was born Jan. 22, 1944, in Biloxi, the son of Robert and Kay Petty Broussard.
He was a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in education and continued his education with numerous programs relating to the oil industry. He served and was honorably discharged from the National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve, was a self-employed engineering consultant and worked for the oil industry traveling throughout the world. Mr. Broussard was a member of the National Street Rod Association.
Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his father, Robert; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Armand Broussard; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Petty.
Survivors include three children, Nicole Broussard and fiance, Chris Coffee of Lake Charles, La., James Kenneth Broussard II of Lafayette, La., and Sean Robert Broussard of Lake Charles; his mother, Kay Broussard of Philadelphia; one brother, Joseph Broussard of Philadelphia; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and friends, Ann Propson, Glen, Chuck, Jim, Floyd and Judy.

Irma Fitzgerald Bailey

CHURCH HILL – Services for Irma Fitzgerald Bailey, 95, of Natchez, who died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Anthony Colenburg officiating.
Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation is from noon until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Bailey was born Aug. 26, 1904, in Church Hill, the daughter of Tom Fitzgerald and Luberta Martin Fitzgerald.
She was educated in Adams County and was also a graduate of Alcorn College. She was an educator in Jefferson County moe than 44 years before her retirement and she was a stewardess and Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Bailey; one sister, Ethel Griffin; and two brothers, Evans Fitzgerald and Freddie Fitzgerald.
Survivors include four nieces and their spouses, Thelma Spigner of Flint, Mich., Rebecca and Robert Wells, Pat and Robert Cross and Merdith and Robert Perryman, all of St. Louis, Mo.; one nephew and his wife, Freddie Jean Fitzgerald of St. Louis; and cousins and their spouses, Althea Ford of Church Hills and Will T. and Nan Fitzgerald of Vidalia, La.; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
James M. Russ Sr.
–March 1, 1939 – July 17, 2000
Services for Mr. James M. &uot;Sonny&uot; Russ Sr., 61, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 17, 2000, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Pearson officiating.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Russ was born March 1, 1939, in Natchez the son of James A. and Clara McFadden Russ.
He was employed with Jay Van Construction Co.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Russ of Natchez; five sons and their wives, James McFadden Russ Jr. of Tennessee, the Rev. Bobby A. and Tina Russ of Wesson, Scott and Terry Russ, Jeff and Shannon Russ and Joseph &uot;Joby&uot; Russ, all of Natchez; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Nelson, Mike Pace, Jim Kimbrell, Robert Taylor, Wayne Pace, Albert Johnson and James Pace.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leon &uot;Buddy&uot; Rhodes, Dr. Jack Rodriguez, Dr. Walter Dawkins, employees of Jay Van Construction, Joel Smith and Bill Wade.
Clayton Braxton Craft

FERRIDAY, La. – Services for Clayton Braxton Craft, 25, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, July 16, 2000, in St. Landry Parish, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Cruse officiating.
Burial will be at Rosefield Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Craft was born May 30, 1975, in Natchez, the son of Mickey and Edna Craft.
He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and an equipment operator for D & J Construction Company.
Mr. Craft was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde McKee; great-grandmother, Bessie Jane Craft; and great-grandfather, Ike Cowan Sr.
Survivors include his parents, Mickey and Edna Craft of Ferriday; grandmother, Verena McKee of Columbia; grandparents, Vernon and Rosie Craft of Ferriday; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Michele and Steve Edwards of Ferriday and Latisha Craft of Ferriday; one nephew, Dylan Craft; niece and nephew, Tori and Brye Edwards; aunts and uncle, Doris and Frank Grantham of Ridgecrest, Virginia and David Anisworth of Ridgecrest, Mary Elizabeth and Waylon May of Columbia, Otis and Judith McKee of Columbia, DeVonne and Shelton Earls of Roxie, Sue and Gary Jacobson of Monroe, Nancy and Calvin Creel of Vidalia and Pam and Scotter Ruddell of Columbia.

LEESVILLE, La. – Services for Johnnie Lee Lipton, 43, of Leesville, who died Friday, July 14, 2000, at his residence, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Temple Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Maurice Johnson officiating.
Burial will be at the Leesville Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Davis Mortuary of Leesville.
A wake service will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
